Paul and Carl arrived at the shelter on 10/9 and went with short term foster who reported they did great! They are back now and looking for a warm place to stay as they continue to grow. They are about 4 weeks old and are eating slurry from the bowl on their own every 4-5 hours. They tested negative for Panleuk on 10/10.

Tanner and McKee came to us overnight on 10/18. They are about 3 weeks old and need to be stimulated and bottle fed every 4 hours. They were a bit scared and hissy when they arrived but enjoyed getting love as soon as they were picked up. They would love a friendly foster to care for them. They tested negative for Panleuk.

Meet Oreo Milkshake ACCT-A-265101. Oreo Milkshake was brought to ACCT on 10/17 after she was seen on laying on someone’s porch in pretty bad shape. She is approximately 2 years old. Her finder didn’t know much about her past other than she has had 2 litter of kittens, the most recent being 5 weeks ago. When she was found, it was noticed that she had very little control over her bladder, may be a result of her having babies as she had urinated on herself. Along with bladder issues, this sweet girl also has a broken tail. This girl is just looking for a warm place to recover from having her babies and get back on her feet, or rather, paws. Stop by and meet this girl today

Behavior:

Per Staff 10/17:
Went to get some nice headshots of this little girl. When i approached her kennel, she was loafing in her litter box. Once i started talking sweet to her, she became very interested in the sweet words i was saying to her. When she liked what she heard, she stood up out of her litter box, stepped out and started talking back to me via various meows, purrs and even threw in making me a few biscuits.

Per Staff 10/17/26: very sweet, very interested in food, allowed handling to be placed in feral den.

Medical:

Per Staff 10/16/26:
From what APO observed the cat had urinated on herself appearing to not have control over bladder. Saw puddles along porch that were tinted red. Caller stated when she called about the cat last night there was more blood than there is now, also said cats tail was broken. Stated the cat has had two litters, last litter being 5 weeks ago, to which she took the kittens from mom stating mom was attacking them. She stated the cat has no left the box she had on the porch for her since last night

-Suspected post-partum Sanguinopurulent vaginal discharge, suspected pyometra Wound on tail
-Urogenital: Lactating. Large volume sanguinopurulent discharge from v***a
-Integument: Superficial wound, erythema on ventral proximal tail

Salami ACCT-A-241829 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Salami must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by MONDAY, OCTOBER 19TH at 10AM. Should Salami's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Salami first came to ACCT Philly on January 23rd as an injured community cat with a wound and large abscess on his head. He was neutered, treated, and returned to his caretaker once he had healed.

On October 16th, he was brought back due to mange and he tested positive for FeLV. The mange has been treated with Bravecto, but he should not return to his previous outdoor home. Salami seems to enjoy a little affection. He tolerated pets on his head and down his back, and especially enjoyed gentle scratches on his crusty spots. Due to his medical concerns, Salami is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 10/16:
Salami was tolerant of pets on his head and down his back. He especially seemed to enjoy gentle scratches on his crusty spots.

Fearful and flighty, exam was performed sedated due to inability to be handled for awake exam.

10/16 Triage Exam:
Salami weighed 9.4 pounds with an ideal body condition. He was mildly dehydrated. He was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange and tested positive for FeLV.

MUFASA IS IN NEED TOMORROW 10/15!!

**$143 in Pledges to the Rescue that pulls!**

Mufasa ACCT A-264707 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Mufasa must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16TH at 10AM. Should Mufasa's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Mufasa came to ACCT when a kind stranger noticed he was injured, and he immediately charmed every single staff member he has come in contact with. Mufasa is gentle with his affections, and trusting of the new batch of kind strangers overseeing his care. Unfortunately, Mufasa is suffering from multiple pelvic fractures, and urgently needs to leave the shelter with a rescue that can facilitate a consult with an orthopedic surgeon to determine Mufasa's next steps, including pain management, crate rest and healing, or surgical options.

Mufasa is able to urinate and defecate on his own, but his right, hind leg is non-ambulatory and will drag behind him, but we found that sensation is present. Radiographs are available upon request, and at this time, we suspect that Mufasa is suffering from a separation of the right side of his pelvis from his spine, at the base of his tail--a right sacroiliac luxation. This is in addition to fractures of the pelvic symphysis and ramus.

Throughout his exams, radiographs, and treatments, Mufasa has been an all-star patient. He tolerates all handling, and even nudges your hand to encourage more pets, should you try and step away. While we want to encourage his rest, it was beneficial to observe his movements in action; this has been made easy, as all it takes is a few gentle words and he will come right up to you, eager for affection and ideally, some snacks.

Marty is a 7-year-old male who came in as a stray on 10/14/26. Marty was found as a stray at another shelter, in which he was diagnosed with diabetes. He previously entered our shelter in July 2019, adopted out, found as a stray in September 2026 & then reclaimed by owner. He was friendly with staff prior to shaving & very much enjoys churu, but during the shaving process, he lunged & dug his claws into the doctor’s arm. Due to this, Marty is on rabies observation/bite quarantine through 10/24/26, and must remain in the state of Pennsylvania. Marty is looking for urgent placement by end of day tomorrow due to his diabetes.

MEDICAL:

Per his exam on 10/14, Marty is BAR (bright, alert and responsive) with a Muscle Condition Score (MCS) of 1/3. He has muscle wasting of his epaxials with a matted fur coat. He was diagnosed to be diabetic.

Per his exam on 10/14, Marty is QAR (quiet, alert and responsive), and friendly when offered churros. When shaving mid-abdomen matts, Marty swatted and got claws into Dr. Marty has a Body Condition Score of 3 (Thin), with flaky coat/skin, and matting on his back: concentrated on abdomen/chest. He has teeth that are very stained with tartar. His gums were red & moist.

BEHAVIORAL:

Per staff on 10/14:
“Marty allowed & leaned a bit into head pets while eating a bit of churu.”

Per staff on 10/14/26:
“While shaving some of the matts from Marty's chest, he lunged and dug both front paws into my right forearm. Nurse was able to have control of his head before a bite could occur.”

Per staff on 10/14/26:
“Pt was very interested in churros and allowing pets and examination. Dr. AE was able to shave some matts on the back, when shaving the mid abdomen, pt suddenly hissed and swatted with both front paws and got ahold of Dr with claws.”

Per his finder on 9/4/26, Marty is “friendly & shy. He has matted fur, smells bad, but eats and is vocal.”

Smaug came to the shelter as a stray through APO on the evening of 10/14. He tested negative for Panleuk on 10/14. He presented with eyes crusted shut. During a vet exam on 10/15, he was assessed to have severe conjunctivitis, potential microphthalmia, an upper respiratory infection, and hyporexia. Smaug was treated with fluids, mirtazapine, and a nebulizer treatment. He has also been started on doxycycline and erythromycin.

Smaug is about 1 month old so he needs to be slurry fed every 4 to 5 hours. He is also possibly ready for litter box training. Smaug is looking for rescue placement or a foster while he waits.
