The Philadelphia Encampment is the premier Scouting event in the City of Philadelphia. Returning to historic Lighthouse Field in October, 2014, the festivities begin Thursday the 16th (7PM-9M) with the Encampment Pep Rally where Units will have the opportunity to witness a sneak peak of the fun that awaits them. or the weekend, with Cub Scout joining for the day on Saturday. The Boy Scout Program for the Philadelphia Encampment will be broken into two sections. The older boy program will be offered to boys 1st Class and up. These boys will have the opportunity to sign up for one of twelve merit badges or take part in a unique Leadership and Program Planning training course. The twelve merit badges are as follows:
1) Woodworking
2) Electricity
3) Plumbing
4) Automotive Maintenance
5) First Aid
6) Emergency Preparedness
7) Programming
8) Digital Technology
9) Electronics
10) Crime Prevention
11) Fire Safety
12) Citizenship in the Nation*
*Citizenship in the Nation will take place off site at the Constitution Center, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. An additional cost will apply. The younger boy program will include pioneering, scout craft skills, cooking, archery, and first aid. In addition, each Scout will have the opportunity to earn Scouting Heritage Merit Badge. This year the Philadelphia Encampment will introduce a new and unique Webelos scout program, Project Crossover. This program is designed to introduce Webelos to the Patrol System and show them exactly what Boy Scouting has to offer. Cub Scout Packs and Scoutreach Units are invited to join the Philadelphia Encampment for the day, on Saturday, where Cub Scout specific program will engage Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Scouts in a variety of fun and games!
