upcoming workshop! block printed patches! Monday, Aug 10 🤝 6-9 pm

Come learn how to carve a linocut print and print some patches! You’ll learn the tips and tricks of how to carve and print a linoleum block print patch from start to finish with Philly printmaker Charlotte Holt Charlotte Holt - No experience necessary. We will go over how to transfer your drawing to the block, how to carve your block, and finally how to print your patches by hand and on the press. hi yall! the previously scheduled volunteer work days, originally july 18 and 19, have been postponed. originally these were going to be our final push to pack up before moving into our new studio — but we’ve extended our lease till october 31, so no need to pack up quite yet! if you were excited to get involved, you’re still invited to come hang during open hours on sunday, july 19, 1-5pm, like usual. we’ll be having some more volunteer work days when we actually have to pack up in late september and early october. the zine library is staying bagged….but it is still open to the public and usable!

while we are working hard fundraising to move to Baltimore Ave, planning events, talking to architects, and coordinating programming, your experience in the 4700 Kingsessing studio actually shouldn’t change until october. we’re still having open hours wednesday evenings and sunday afternoons, and we’ll be announcing late summer/fall classes soon!

if you have a project you need to get done, there’s still plenty of time to use the community studio—hit us up about membership!

stayed tuned for workshop announcements and more :) stay safe everyone.

DONATION MATCH IS HAPPENING NOW! A donor will be matching donations made before Monday, July 13, up to $1,000. We know zine libraries and community printmaking spaces matter to you—so we ask, please help save the Soapbox! You’ll be a part of creating a community print studio on Baltimore Ave, and show up for zinesters, artists, DIY publishers, and your neighbors! We are so thankful for your support. 📚
