🎓🛠 The future is full of possibilities!

Our First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School juniors and seniors explored what's next after high school at the school's College & Career Fair!

From colleges and universities to trade programs, scholars connected directly with representatives, asked questions and learned more about the different paths available to them.

The fair was an opportunity for scholars to discover new interests and take another step toward planning their futures.

We did not wait.

Leaders from PCE schools have been at the table from the start. We put our ideas in writing, we spoke up at the Board of Education and we went to court to protect the schools families chose.

Our goal has never been to avoid accountability. We want it to be fair and to go both ways.

Two years into RiSE, charter schools and families still have not seen the new framework.

The School District of Philadelphia launched the process in late 2024. Details were expected in June 2026, then moved to September. Last month the Charter Schools Office said it cannot provide updates, citing ongoing legal matters. The new framework is not expected to be used until the 2027-28 school year, and schools are still being evaluated under the current one.

As our CEO, Dr. Cassandra St. Vil, told Chalkbeat: "Transparency matters, and it is not showing up in this process."

Today, Tacony Academy Charter School remembers beloved teacher and friend Alaine Porter, whose warmth, dedication, and love of reading continue to inspire our school community.

Miss Porter's legacy lives on through Porter's Corner, the mini library created in her memory, and through the scholars and colleagues she touched every day. 📚💚

Members of the Tacony Academy Charter School community recently joined the celebration at Philadelphia Chinatown’s 31st Annual Mid-Autumn Festival!

Organized by Asian Americans United, the annual festival brings thousands of people together to celebrate Asian cultures and traditions through art, food, performances and community activities while honoring the history and cultural heritage of Philadelphia’s Chinatown.

For our scholars, the festival was an opportunity to experience those traditions firsthand and learn more about the cultures and communities that help make Philadelphia the city it is.

We’re proud to give scholars opportunities to take learning beyond the classroom and experience their city in new ways! 🥮 🏮

When the rules for grading a school are unclear, families feel it first.
About 65,000 students attend PCE member schools across Philadelphia. Their parents chose those schools, and they deserve a process that is fair, clear and consistent.

That is why RiSE matters to every family we serve.

Last week, 42 First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School scholars and staff took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Lincoln University!

Scholars spent the day exploring campus, getting a firsthand look at college life and imagining what their own futures in higher education could look like.

A huge thank you to Lincoln University of PA and 100 Black Men Philadelphia for making the experience possible, including transportation, lunch, school supplies for each scholar and tickets to an upcoming Lincoln University football game at Lincoln Financial Field!

Thank you for giving our scholars such a memorable day! 🎓
