🩷Join us in Philly for We Are the Seeds Powwow 2026 at Cherry St. Pier, a vibrant celebration of Indigenous arts, cultures, and community!

$20 suggested donation. Pay what you can. Open to all!

Saturday features the Seeds Philly Powwow, Indigenous artists, El Mercado Cultural, and hands-on art activities including corn husk doll making and paper tipi art making.

Sunday brings music, dance, artist talks, storytelling, and workshops. Mexica dancers Huey Xolotl, We Are the Seeds Dance Troupe, singer Ms. Josephine, composer Zachariah Julian, and more, along with a creative writing and improvisation workshop with Nicholson Billey and Indigenous Caribbean gourd painting and an artist talk with Priscilla Bell.

Descendanze: In Full Effect! is a multicultural dance extravaganza including African and Native American dancers. The show's content is diverse, expressive, interactive, entertaining, fun, family-friendly, and culturally educational for all ages. The dance pieces express cultural awareness and identity, inviting audiences of all backgrounds to connect with and learn from these traditions. The choreography is both traditional and contemporary, designed to foster cross-cultural connections.

The new piece, entitled "The Butterfly Effect," is a beautiful collaboration among the main choreographers: Vaughnda Hilton, Leonna Elliott, and Renelle Smith-Hopkins. This piece is an expression of power, culture, unity, strength, and the will to endure.

We are honored to share that We Are the Seeds has received both an Art & Culture Grant and a Community Impact Grant through the Philadelphia Cultural Fund’s FY2027 grant cycle.

The arts are vital to the health, identity, economics, and future of our city.
