Covenant House PA

Covenant House PA Covenant House Pennsylvania is much more than a shelter. Your generosity and support isn't only welcome, but needed.

Inspired by faith, we are a community devoted to absolute respect and unconditional love ensuring that all youth experiencing homelessness can lead lives full of purpose and joy. We provide an array of services for homeless young people, including a first-class medical clinic, full time staff to assist with educational and vocational needs, and around the clock one-on-one support to help our young people plan, stay on track, and achieve their goals. We also provide housing for longer periods to give our kids ample time to find work, learn important skills, and save money - giving them the best possible chance of achieving independence. With the vital work that we do, it's hard to believe that we operate almost entirely on private donations - more than 90% to be exact. If you would like to make a gift, please reach out to our Development team at [email protected] or call (215) 302-7506.

⚾️ RED OCTOBER WATCH PARTY ❤️ Thank You for a great season!

This week, our Covenant House PA team brought a little Phillies spirit to Safe Haven! ❤️ Between supporting our youth and keeping things moving, our team found a few moments to catch the game, check the score, grab a pretzel, and cheer on the Phils together. 🥨⚾️
Big thanks to Philly Pretzel Factory for keeping us snacking through the game! 🥨❤️

And remember, the Phillies are also proud partners of Sleep Out at the Ballpark! Learn more and support Covenant House PA’s mission to end youth homelessness at https://sleepout.org/philadelphia

🎨 Mosaic Art with ROP Youth 🎨 Youth in our Rights of Passage (ROP) program in Kensington enjoyed a free, hands-on mosaic workshop where they created artwork they could take with them. 💙

A special thank you to Jessica Gorlin Liddell/Bella Mosaic Art Art for donating tools and supplies, and to Andrea Sunderland, our volunteer for sharing her time.

And thank you to Celia Celia Pretter, who creates monthly workshops, outings, hikes, and activities that give our youth opportunities to connect, create, and explore.

We’re grateful to everyone who made this experience possible! 💙

Last Saturday, members of the Villanova University community spent the day at our Safe Haven emergency shelter, assembling furniture and getting our 4th floor ready to welcome new residents this fall.

When it reopens, we’ll be able to welcome 12 more young people each night. Thank you to everyone who helped create a space that feels safe, comfortable and welcoming for young people who may be walking through our doors during some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. We feel incredibly lucky to have you in our corner.

A special shoutout to the Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW) Board members who joined us and who help make Villanova’s annual Solidarity Sleep Out possible, and to Michael Morissey, who has captained the team for the past four years. This year’s Sleep Out on Wednesday, March 10 will be Michael’s final one before graduation, and we’re so grateful for all he has done to support CHPA and our young people.

And thank you to Raymond Ward, PhD, Associate Director for Advocacy and Engagement at the Center for Peace and Justice Education, for being a champion of service and advocacy and for helping foster this partnership over the years.

Thank you, Villanova, for continuing to show up for our young people. 💙

Yesterday, the 20th Annual Henkels & McCoy, Inc. Golf Invitational brought together an incredible community of partners, sponsors, alumni, and supporters for a day of golf and, most importantly, impact. ⛳️💙

This year’s event raised $138,000 for Covenant House Pennsylvania, bringing the tournament’s total to more than $2.7 million raised for CHPA over the past 20 years.

We’re grateful to the entire Henkels & McCoy community for championing our mission and standing by our young people for two decades. We could not do this work without partners like them by our side.

A special thank you to Whitney, a CHPA alum, and William, a current resident, for sharing their stories and reminding us what this support makes possible.

Here’s to 20 years of partnership, impact, and showing up for young people. And many more to come.

Some stories begin with a job. Others begin with a connection.

For former Covenant House Pennsylvania Executive Director John Ducoff, his story began in 2014, when he arrived expecting to stay only a few months.

Instead, he found a place and a mission that changed him.

During his time at Covenant House PA, John saw firsthand that young people need more than a safe place to sleep. They need time, support, and opportunity to build toward independence.

And people like Bonnie Weiner and The Weiner Family Foundation believed deeply in that vision.

Together, that belief helped turn an idea into Embrace, our second transitional housing program where young people can build the skills, stability, and foundation for what comes next.

Their story is a reminder that hope doesn't happen alone. It happens when people believe in young people... and invest in what is possible for their futures.

For 25 years, Covenant House PA has been a place where hope found an address. As we look toward the next 25, we invite you to help keep that hope alive for every young person who walks through our doors.
