🍎📚WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL📚🍎

Historic Fair Hill is so excited to continue our work with our partner schools, Julia de Burgos Elementary School, John F. Hartranft School Bethune Bears and Potter Thomas Panthers this school year.

This year, you'll once again see our library coordinators leading read-alouds, our reading buddies working 1:1 with students, our excellent facilitators leading family workshops, and our classroom assistants working dilligently with our partner school teachers!

Guided breathwork and mindfulness workshop centered on grounding techniques, wellness, and stress reduction with certified breathwork practitioner Ambrose Devine-Gage.

Thanks to Philadelphia DA’s Office for celebrating 26 community organizations this morning with the Violence Prevention Grant Initiative. After a difficult weekend in our city, it was an honor to be among so many incredible organizations supporting community revitalization, neighborhood beautification, and environmental justice. Thank you for believing in our work of dreaming, learning, and growing in Fairhill!

Celebrate rain & the water cycle in our final Wondrous Wednesday of the summer! Our gardens (and world!) rely on rain and water to grow and flourish. Come make a rain stick, sing some rain songs, and read some favorite books about lakes, puddles, rain showers and more!

Our youth interns are having a great summer of learning! Thanks to our friends Taller Puertorriqueño RISE & RITUAL Philadelphia Orchard Project Urban Creators The Food Trust Awbury Arboretum for partnering with us and introducing them to so many new things!

We have over 150 trees & this week’s Wondrous Wednesday will be all about them! Come read books that celebrate the majesty and biodiversity of trees, walk amongst our rare and beautiful trees (we are a certified arboretum!) and keep cool in the shade of our “storytime” tree.

This week’s Wondrous Wednesday celebrates all things Garden! An obvious favorite topic for us, we will read books that celebrate gardens everywhere. Come read, sing, craft, and take a walk in our gardens.

Come out on July 7, 8, and 9 for an evening retreat to explore outside and meet some backyard bugs like fireflies, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. We’ll have a scavenger hunt, bug-themed BINGO game with prizes, and more! Discover your love of these tiny creatures and some ideas about how to help them keep doing their very important jobs.
