“You got this!” “Great teamwork!” “I can’t believe I just hit a home run!”

Yesterday at Simpson Recreation Center, our BackYard Baseball players stepped onto the field and showed off their skills in an exciting 9-8 matchup! From big hits to great teamwork, every inning was filled with encouragement, hustle, and fun.

The adults and children made it a night to remember!

Coach Traci leads the Octavius Catto League at Wister Playground. She has gone above and beyond to make the experience amazing. We appreciate all that she, and other coaches, have done at each of the recreation centers to support the league.

This past Saturday, during our parent vs player game, we think we may have found a guest announcer for the Phillies. Her grandson sounds like he’s ready to step up to the plate!

The On Deck Circle is excited to announce that Kyle Werman has joined as an advisory board member. Kyle will be assisting specifically in the development of programming. Kyle has already made an impact by helping The On Deck Circle create, test and implement our BackYard Baseball programs.

Kyle is in his 12th season as the head varsity baseball coach at LaSalle College High School. Additionally, he teaches Physics/Engineering and is also Camp Director of TeamWerman LLC.. He played baseball through every level, playing collegiate baseball at The University of Virginia and Professional Baseball with the Mets (Adv Rookie) as well as the Washington WildThings in the Frontier League. Kyle’s background also includes coaching at the Division I level at George Mason, Radford and St. Joseph’s.

For Kyle, sports have always been a big part of his life. He feels that they specifically have helped him build a sense of commitment, work ethic, and competitiveness. Now as a coach, he feels he can directly impact the lives of kids by teaching them the game and helping them build the skills that will allow them to be successful in life.

We are grateful for Kyle’s time and to have him on board.
