Beyond the Bars A student driven and community based music program dedicated to interrupting cycles of divestment.

Beyond the Bars is a music and career planning program that is dedicated to interrupting the cycles of violence and incarceration. It seeks to provide music programs and safe spaces to youth who have otherwise not had access to them.

🎶 We’re getting excited for this year’s Philly Youth Music Fest! 🎶

Join us on Sunday, July 19th from 2PM–8PM at Spruce Street Harbor Park for a free citywide celebration of young people, music, creativity, and community.

This year’s festival will feature:
🎤 25+ youth performances
🎧 Hands-on workshops and activities
🎨 Interactive art experiences
🤝 Community organizations from across Philadelphia
🎁 Free giveaways
🎵 Opportunities to connect, create, and celebrate together

Now in its 3rd year, Philly Youth Music Fest brings together hundreds of young people, families, artists, educators, and community partners for a day dedicated to uplifting youth voices and showcasing the incredible talent that exists throughout our city.

Whether you’re a performer, parent, educator, community partner, or music lover, we hope you’ll join us for an unforgettable day on the waterfront.

🎶 Join the Beyond the Bars Summer Music Club! 🎶

This July, Beyond the Bars is bringing a week of creativity, music,
and community to participating School District of Philadelphia middle
schools!

🎸 Learn to play guitar, bass, piano, and drums
🎧 Explore music production and songwriting
🎤 No experience needed — just bring your creativity!

Who: School District of Philadelphia students entering or currently in
grades 6–8
Cost: FREE!
Spots: Limited to 25 students per site (first come, first served)

📍 Kearny Middle School (601 Fairmount Ave)
🗓️ July 20–24 | ⏰ 8:30 AM–3:00 PM

📍 Hartranft Middle School (720 W. Cumberland St.)
🗓️ July 27–31 | ⏰ 8:30 AM–3:00 PM

🍎 Meals and snacks provided daily, with plenty of time for games,
activities, and building community between music sessions.

One of the joys of our community is seeing students become incredible leaders and mentors! We are deeply grateful to have watched grow from a student into one of the best guitar players in the city and even more importantly an incredible teacher and mentor to so many. In the same way we want to shoutout Kahsaan and all graduating students who we have seen already be mentoring and supporting others in growing as artists! Had an amazing time at our open jam in the park at Clark Park! Thanks to everyone who came and student who joined in throughout the night! Basketball games were played, songs were jammed on, pizza and cheesesteaks were eaten and great vibes were had! We want to see you at the next one!
