We are beyond excited to announce that after helping build btb for over 8 years two former students Isaiah and Xadyah are both now full time staff with BTB! They have progressed from amazing students who were talented artists who always worked to make others feel supported, to compassionate student teachers to lead facilitators to now full time staff! They have taught at pretty much every space BTB has been in and hundreds of young people are making music because of them! So much of who we are is because of the leadership of our young people and to now see more full time positions be in their leadership is something we are deeply grateful for! Isaiah is now a Resource Connection Coordinator and Xadyah will be the Student Coordinator. We are so grateful for everything they both have done already and cannot wait to see their continued leadership have profound impacts on our city!

We love program swaps! We love the amazing work that Collective Climb does for our community and we’re deeply grateful for their incredible team teaching our young leaders on restorative justice and for our ability to help their young leaders with music workshops! So many beautiful things are possible in our community when we interconnect our work together and we couldn’t be more grateful for all that Collective Climb does for our city! Y’all are amazing!

It was a dream of ours to have a student teacher program someday where the young leaders in our community could have a platform to grow as mentors and then go teach and support younger youth in growing as artists. Yesterday wrapped our 5th year of our student teacher program and words can’t describe how insanely grateful we are for what our youth leaders pour into our community everyday! Our students performed shows, learned music and how to create trauma informed spaces and taught youth all over Philadelphia how to play and express themselves through music. Our young people in the city aren’t a someday they are leaders today and we are beyond grateful for the love they pour into our city! Also a major shoutout to every adult teacher supporting their journey tirelessly with love and to Career Connected Learning PHL for making these spaces for our young people possible!
