Neighborhood Bike Works

10/05/2026

This past Friday Neighborhood Bike Works had the privilege of teaching Girl Scout Troop 7855 about bike safety practices like how to correctly adjust their helmets and how to properly inflate their tires. Then we did a short ride to put it all into practice. Autumn, one of NBW's youth who is a Girl Scout, helped lead the workshop. The scouts were excited to meet her and see all her hard-earned badges. Autumn definitely is a role model of who they could be in the future. We enjoy helping our communities. In turn, they help us, too.

We're not doing drop-in hours on Saturday because NBW youth and youth programs facilitators will be on a field trip. We'll share some photos next week and see you next Saturday. 💛

Just letting folks know that that the bike shop will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, September 17th. If you need anything, Bike Church will be open in the evening from 6:30 to 9:00 and the bike shop will reopen on Friday. Thanks! 🚲

It's a holiday weekend, but it's also the first Saturday of the month so our wonderful volunteers will be at the NBW bike shop for Bike Church!
If you need a bit of help with repairs, are looking for some used parts, or want to buy a new-to-you bicycle, we hope you stop by. 🚴‍♂️

We are excited to begin Ride Club after our busy summer! Ride Club is a program that helps beginner riders traverse Philly safer. We teach students how to switch their gears, how to use their brakes, and how to properly wear and fasten their helmet. We do this all while visiting local parks and green spaces of West Philly. 🚲🚲🚲

We're sorry for the short notice but the NBW bike shop will not be open today. Bike church is still taking place tonight, however.
We'll see you again on Thursday. 🚲

We’re excited to share some wonderful news: Neighborhood Bike Works has been named a 2026 Philly Favorite for Bicycle Shop by Philly Favorites / The Philadelphia Inquirer! 🎉

This recognition means a lot because it reflects the support and enthusiasm of the people who make NBW what it is — our staff, volunteers, board, youth, donors, customers, and neighbors.

What makes this especially meaningful is that NBW is so much more than a bike shop. Every refurbished bike sold, every repair completed, every volunteer hour, and every welcoming interaction helps support our mission of inspiring youth and strengthening Philadelphia through equitable access to bicycling and bike repair.

This award belongs to all of you.

Thank you for the care, skill, patience, and heart you bring to Neighborhood Bike Works every day. Whether you shop in our bike store, teach youth how to true a wheel, help someone fix a flat at Bike Church, serve on a committee, process donations, support a fundraiser, or simply help make the space feel welcoming — you are part of this recognition.

We’re incredibly grateful and proud to share this with all of you.

Thank you for helping make NBW such a special place. ❤️
