🚵 One race down, and we’re just getting started! 🔔

Last night, NBW’s new NICA Mountain Bike Team hit the course at Belmont Plateau for their very first race! We’re so proud of our riders for getting out there, putting their skills to the test, and representing Neighborhood Bike Works.

And the best part? You don’t have to wait long to see them race again!

🚵 The bikes are loaded, and NBW is ready to race! 🚵‍♀️

Neighborhood Bike Works’ NICA Mountain Bike Team heads to Belmont Plateau for our very first race today! Coach Kurt has the bikes loaded up, and our riders are ready to put all that practice to work on the course.

🚲🍻 Bike valet is open in Manayunk!

We’re all set up and parking bikes for today’s Tour de Love City! Riders are making their way from Love City’s Callowhill taproom to Manayunk, and we’ll be here keeping their bikes safe while they celebrate with a well-earned drink (or two). 🍺

If you’re riding today, come find the Neighborhood Bike Works Bike Valet at Main & Cotton Streets, right around the corner from Love City Manayunk.

Ride bikes. Drink local. Support NBW. 💛🚲

Registration for NBW's Adult Bike Repair Class is open!

You can choose from Mondays 6:30 to 8:30 or Fridays 6 to 8. The class is a 4-week course, meeting at our bike shop. More info can be found at https://neighborhoodbikeworks.org/bike-shop

🚲☀️🔥 NEW BIKE DAY! 🔥☀️🚲

What better way to celebrate New Bike Day than by riding to pick up your new bikes—even on one of the hottest days of the summer?

Last week, members of the Neighborhood Bike Works West Philly NICA Team braved the heat and rode to Trek Manayunk to bring home EIGHT brand new mountain bikes! Despite the high temperatures, our riders showed determination, teamwork, and excitement every mile of the way.

These bikes, provided through the 2026 DCNR Loaner Bike Program, will help remove barriers to participation and ensure that more young riders can experience the joy, challenge, and adventure of mountain biking.

We are incredibly grateful to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL), NICA, and the 2026 DCNR Loaner Bike Program for making this opportunity possible. Access to quality equipment opens doors, and these bikes will help even more youth build confidence, develop skills, and discover a lifelong love of riding on the trails.

A huge thank you to the team at Trek Manayunk for expertly building and preparing these bikes for our riders. We appreciate your partnership and support in getting more kids on bikes and onto the trails.

The ride home may have been hot, but the smiles made it all worthwhile. We can't wait to see where these bikes take our team this season! 🚵🌲

Here is an update about NBW over the next few days:
- the bike shop will be open Friday, July 3rd
- there will not be our usual First Saturday Bike Church on Saturday, July 4th
- also no drop-in youth programming on Saturday, July 4th

We’re excited to share some wonderful news: Neighborhood Bike Works has been named a 2026 Philly Favorite for Bicycle Shop by Philly Favorites / The Philadelphia Inquirer! 🎉

This recognition means a lot because it reflects the support and enthusiasm of the people who make NBW what it is — our staff, volunteers, board, youth, donors, customers, and neighbors.

What makes this especially meaningful is that NBW is so much more than a bike shop. Every refurbished bike sold, every repair completed, every volunteer hour, and every welcoming interaction helps support our mission of inspiring youth and strengthening Philadelphia through equitable access to bicycling and bike repair.

This award belongs to all of you.

Thank you for the care, skill, patience, and heart you bring to Neighborhood Bike Works every day. Whether you shop in our bike store, teach youth how to true a wheel, help someone fix a flat at Bike Church, serve on a committee, process donations, support a fundraiser, or simply help make the space feel welcoming — you are part of this recognition.

We’re incredibly grateful and proud to share this with all of you.

The bikes are rolling in and we’re officially set up for today’s Bike Drive! 🚲✨

Our team is ready to collect donated bicycles that will be refurbished and redistributed through Neighborhood Bike Works youth and adult programs. Every donated bike helps provide transportation, hands-on learning opportunities, confidence, and freedom to someone in Philadelphia.

Have an old bike collecting dust in your garage or basement? Bring it by! We gladly accept:

🔧 Bike parts & accessories

Your donation helps keep bikes out of landfills and puts them back into the hands of people who will ride them. ♻️💙
