MAP is pleased to help Menard County Animal Control find homes for Shelter pets. Meet Tiger, our Pet of the Week. Around 3 years old, this orange boy is great with other cats and all humans. But Tiger is not a fan of dogs. The name Tiger suits him because he’s a hefty, healthy guy!
He’s super sweet and sociable. Tiger wants to spend his days gazing out the window watching anything in his view.
Litter trained, he is fully vetted and ready for adoption! How about your home? Colder weather is here, and what's better than a warm cat? To meet Tiger, please contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Thank you!

He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and house trained. Puppers needs a home with no cats or with cats that are submissive to dogs. If you can provide a home for Puppers, please contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Puppers will be so thankful! Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving from the Shelter staff and the volunteers.

MAP recently delivered this sign to Menard County Animal Control for installation along the driveway to the Shelter. Additional signage is being prepared for the Shelter entrance off Sunnyacres Rd. While most owners who need to surrender an animal do it in a responsible manner, a few need to be reminded that no animal should be abandoned by leaving it on Shelter grounds when staff are not presesnt.

We are sharing the following statement from the APL Spay and Neuter Clinic.....We are sad to report that we have lost our full-time spay/neuter veterinarian. Dr. Speck will continue to do surgery part time. Since we opened in 2006, we have done more than 200,000 spay/neuter surgeries for our community. In this time, we have saved countless lives and strengthened the bonds between thousands of people and the pets they love. Through Covid, staffing shortages, supply shortages, and more, we continued to provide life-saving services throughout Central Illinois.

Now we need your help. If you know a veterinarian or if you are a veterinarian who would like to work or volunteer for APL, please contact us!

Until further notice, our spay/neuter clinic is unable to take new appointments. We are not able to accept walk-in appointments for feral cats. We will reach out to existing clients who have appointments if they need to be rescheduled. We ask for patience and understanding in the coming weeks as we search for additional veterinary staff.

We know affordable spay/neuter services are essential. We are confident this is only a temporary setback, and we look forward to providing spay/neuter services to our community again soon. Thank you for your continued support.

MAP is pleased to help Menard County Animal Control find homes for Shelter pets. Here is one of the many pets available at the Shelter. Meet Spanky! This handsome Pet of the Week is white with dark gray markings.
He's around 5-6 months old, fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and litter trained. A bit shy at first, Spanky is a huge love bug once he gets to know you. He would do best in a relatively calm house with another cat or cats to help show him around his new home! Spanky is good with all humans but Shelter staff aren't sure how he feels about dogs. How about inviting Spanky into your home? To meet him, please contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Thank you!

MAP is pleased to help Menard County Animal Control find homes for Shelter pets. MAP wants you to meet Oreo, Pet of the Week. She's a retriever mix (Australian cattle dog, blue heeler, yellow lab) with handsome black, blue and silver fur. Still a puppy, Oreo will be a medium sized adult. She enjoys life and would do well in an active home. As with all pets adopted from the Animal Shelter, Oreo will be spayed, fully vetted and microchipped when she leaves for her new home. For more information about Oreo or to schedule a meet and greet, please contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Thank you!

Menard Animal Protection (MAP) is proud to help Menard County Animal Control find homes for Shelter pets. Meet Honor, Pet of the Week. She is a black and tan coonhound less than 2 years old. She loves to run around and play, but more than anything loves to smell everything she finds in nature!
Honor loves all people, and at the Shelter she has been great with other dogs and cats. Honor is partly potty trained and Shelter staff are working with her to complete her training. Full of energy, Honor needs a home that understands her need to be active, or she needs
a home with another dog to play with. As always, she is current on age-appropriate vaccines, micro-chipped, and spayed. Honor is ready to join your family! To meet Honor, contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Thank you.

The Menard County Animal Shelter needs your help! It has had a recent influx of adult dogs and cats as well puppies and kittens. So many animals means that Shelter staff can't spend as much time as needed socializing and training individual animals.
In addition to adopters, the Shelter urgently needs temporary foster homes, especially for puppies. Once the puppies are ready for adoption, Menard Animal Protection (MAP) will sponsor half of their adoption costs.
Can you help? If so, please call or text Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Thank you so much! We appreciate your continued support.

MAP is pleased to support Menard County Animal Control as it finds homes for Shelter pets. Meet Knucklehead, Pet of the Week! Shelter staff believe he is six months to a year old, and possibly a full-blooded red Australian Shepherd. Rusty red with a white chest, he is young and energetic and would fit into an active home. Knucklehead would do best with a large yard, preferably, fenced-in, for him to run around in. He can be quite silly, thus his name, but will be a wonderful family dog in the right home. Shelter staff believe he is good with all humans, and with some dogs, when introduced properly. It's not known how he would react to felines. He is working on potty training and walking on a leash. Knucklehead is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and ready for adoption. For more information about Knucklehead, please contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Thank you.

MAP Menard Animal Protection in Illinois is pleased you help Menard County Animal Control find loving homes for its Shelter pets. Calling all dog lovers! Livie, our Pet of the Week, is looking for her fur-ever home. How about yours? She's a good natured, loyal Rottweiler mix who gets along with kids, cats and other dogs. Black, with tan highlights and a medium coat, Livie is a large female adult. She is spayed, vaccinated and chipped. Livie is housebroken, knows the command to sit, is phenomenal on a leash and loves peanut butter. She enjoys playing fetch but can also be a bit of a couch potato. If you could welcome Livie into your home, she will show you what a fine dog she is. And for her adoptive family, Menard Animal Protection is sponsoring her adoption fee. If you know of a potential home for Livie, please share this information. We need to get the word out. To schedule a time to meet Livie, contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Say Hi to Kemper, Pet of the Week. Kemper was featured at the beginning of this month, and Shelter staff are surprised that he has not yet found his fur-ever home. And speaking of fur, Kemper's is short and light yellow. Shelter staff believe he is a yellow lab/red husky mix. At six months to a year old, Kemper is working on leash training and is pretty well housetrained! For being as young as he is, he is a well mannered boy with a good disposition. He also does great with cats, dogs and all humans! Staff would love to see Kemper find a fur-ever home with a big yard to run around in, and a big couch to nap on! He is already neutered, vaccinated, and micro chipped! For more information about Kemper, please contact Menard County Animal Control at 217 632 7302. Thank you!
