Perry County Community Task Force

Perry County Community Task Force The PCCTF is a not-for-profit, community based organization, started in 1995. A second assessment was completed in 2005.

The PCCTF conducted an initial community assessment in 1996 to determine direction in working with community needs. The top idenitified needs of the community included: alcohol/substance abuse, teen-age pregnancy, juvenile delinquency, declining family values. The Task Force developed programs/services to address the identified community needs.

Last week, the DEFY/ 8th Grade Conference took place at the Perry Park Center for local 8th grade students. Around 200 students, teachers and volunteers attended the conference where our presenters from The Seven Project gave personal testimonies and shared personal stories and educated youth on the impact of choices and decisions. This year, topics included: substance use, peer pressure, self- respect, coping and integrity. The Perry County Community Task Force would like to thank IMPACT 100 Perry County and the YST Board for their support in making this Conference possible! When we work together as a community, we build a stronger, healthier and safer community!

The Perry County Community Task Force would like to take a moment to give a shout out to Emma Mahnken for all the volunteer work she accomplished as a founding member of the Youth Task Force. Over the last 3 years Emma has dedicated time to helping younger students grow in a substance free mindset and has been a great role model of positive decision making in our community. We will miss her impact in YTF but can’t wait to see the impact she has on the world. We wish you the best of luck Emma as you continue to be a positive role model whenever life leads you.

Today, we closed out another round of the Girls Circle program where friendships were strengthened, confidence has been building, walls were coming down and the challenge and encouragement to be authentic was left with the girls as they move onto the next chapter in life. We wish you all the best as the school year closes out and cannot wait to see what you do with this beautiful life! 🥰

This year's conference was made possible with the support and sponsorship through Saint Francis Healthcare System, Impact 100 Perry County and the Youth Sales Tax Board.

We are beyond humbled for the amount of support that this community, the volunteers and many others give in making this Conference successful. It truly takes more collaboration than people realize to pull it all together. Last Friday, the 2026 DEFY-Jr/Sr Conference took place for High School Juniors and Seniors where information was shared about the dangers of distracted driving, driving under the influence and how the choices and outcomes of substance use plays into lives that are being altered. The theme was "525,600 Minutes-Make Every Minute Count." Fun minute-to-win-it games started the conference off, followed by a docudrama showing how one minute or one decision can quickly change a life. David Ochs with Air Evac 80 - Perryville, MO shared his experience on the side of answering calls to a scene and the importance of being proactive and awareness when getting behind the wheel. The conference was then concluded by our main speaker, Tony Hoffman, who shared his personal experience with life struggles, substance use and how destructive decisions changed his life. He encouraged the youth to look within themselves, think about their choices and take control of their lives.

We want to thank all of our volunteers which includes, but is not limited to the Perryville Fire Department, Perryville Police Department, Perry County MO Sheriff's Office and MC Sheriff Jason Klaus, Mercy Emergency Medical Services, Air Evac-80-Perryville, MO, Perry County Coroner Meghan Ellis, Perry County Towing, the Perry Park Center and staff, students and staff from St. Vincent High School, District 32, Saxony and the other numerous volunteers that made this possible. We couldn't have done it without you and you are appreciated more than you know! Together, we can create a change in culture.
