“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
New International Version (NIV)

“Preach the Gospel at all times; if necessary, use words.”

May that word stay with you tonight, and may serving side by side as volunteers find you again in the morning.

“A generous person will be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.” - Proverbs 22:9

This is the spirit we bring to the serving line, where giving freely from what we have received becomes real, one guest at a time.

“When you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind.” - Luke 14:13

Tonight we rest in that truth, grateful for every chance today gave us to make room at the table for everyone. Tonight we also give thanks for everyone who came by the pet pantry today.

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” - Psalm 82:3

If that is true - and we believe it is - then honoring the dignity of every person who walks through our doors today is holy ground, right here in Peoria.

10/29/2026

Pet Pantry is every Thursday at 1 PM at Sophia's Kitchen, 105 N Richard Pryor Place, Peoria. Proof of pet ownership is required! You will need to bring a vet bill or proof of a current rabies vaccination to receive pet food.

“Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty.” - St. Teresa of Calcutta

Lord, as this day ends, keep offering shelter and welcome to neighbors without a home, alive in us tomorrow. Amen.

10/28/2026

“Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.” - Luke 6:20

We hear in it a gentle assignment for the day: honoring the dignity of every person who walks through our doors, without exception and without delay.

10/27/2026

“He has filled the hungry with good things.” - Luke 1:53

And so we end where mercy begins, praying that feeding the hungry will mark this kitchen again at sunrise.
