Last but certainly not least, we’re honored to spotlight Greater Peoria Honor Flight — a mission dedicated to honoring our veterans in unforgettable ways. 🇺🇸✈️

In 2025, Greater Peoria Honor Flight has raised enough funds to send five flights to Washington, D.C. Next year, the goal is to send five more flights, while also offering Operation Penguin in the spring — a local event that ensures veterans who are unable to travel can still experience a day of honor and a meaningful welcome home.

With more than 1,000 Vietnam Era veterans currently on the list, this work carries both urgency and purpose. We’re proud to share photos from our 2025 check presentation ceremony and highlight the impact made possible through support raised at last August’s Tee It Up for the Troops – Central Illinois Golf Outing.

Thank you to our Title Sponsor, RLI Corp, and to everyone who continues to help make these moments possible for our veterans. 💙

Stay tuned for info on our 2026 golf outing and how you can get involved! ⛳️

When veterans need help, access and timing can make all the difference. 🇺🇸

This grant spotlight features The Resiliency Project, whose mission centers on reducing veteran isolation, improving mental wellness, and preventing su***de through accessible, community-driven support. Funds raised at last August’s Tee It Up for the Troops – Central Illinois Golf Outing help strengthen TRP’s existing programs — and launch a critical new initiative.

Support continues trusted entry points like fitness training, chiropractic care, and community events that build structure, connection, and accountability. But this funding also powers the Veteran Therapy Fund, providing free, direct-access therapy for veterans facing barriers within the VA system or needing specialized care without delay.

By removing cost and availability as obstacles, this program connects veterans with licensed local therapists quickly and compassionately — no red tape, no long waits.

We were honored to present this grant alongside Drake Scott, Co-Founder, and to share photos from our 2025 check presentation ceremony. Thank you to our Title Sponsor, RLI Corp, and to everyone who continues to stand behind this mission. 💙

More grant recipient spotlights coming soon.

One dog. One veteran. A life changed. 🐾🇺🇸

This grant spotlight belongs to Freedom Paws Service Dogs, where support from last years' Tee It Up for the Troops golf outing helps cover the full cost of training a PTSD service dog — an investment of about $15,000 per dog.

Training isn’t simple obedience. It’s months of specialized work — behavioral therapy, task training, and careful desensitization to PTSD triggers — all designed to provide emotional support and safety in high-stress moments. These dogs are trained with purpose, precision, and compassion so they can meet the specific needs of their future handlers.

We were honored to present this grant alongside Corey James, Brenda Olson, and Rob Olson, and to capture these moments during our 2025 check presentation ceremony.

Thank you to our Title Sponsor, RLI Corp, for helping make this life-changing work possible — and to everyone who supports veterans and first responders beyond the uniform. 💙

Our next grant spotlight goes to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, an organization focused on honoring service while actively supporting veterans in everyday, tangible ways. 💜🇺🇸

We were honored to present this grant in person with Darrell Amerman and Larry Leighton, and to share photos from our 2025 check presentation ceremony.

Funds raised at last August’s Tee It Up for the Troops – Central Illinois Golf Outing will be used to directly support and expand core veteran service programs:

1️⃣ Nursing Home Outreach
Funds will cover program materials, transportation, and volunteer coordination for monthly visits to nursing homes. This includes care packages, recognition ceremonies, and small quality-of-life enhancements such as adaptive games, comfort items, and holiday observances for senior veterans.

2️⃣ JROTC Engagement
Support will be directed toward curriculum development, veteran speaker stipends, and program coordination with schools. Funding will also provide transportation assistance to ensure cadets can participate in community service and mentorship opportunities alongside veterans.

3️⃣ Homeless Veteran Support
A significant portion will be allocated to emergency assistance for homeless veterans, including hygiene kits, food vouchers, clothing, and temporary shelter stipends. Funds will also support partnerships with housing providers, case management, and transitional support to help veterans move from homelessness into stable housing.

4️⃣ Scholarships for Combat-Wounded Veterans and Families
Funds will expand the scholarship program, directly awarding financial assistance to combat-wounded veterans and their dependents pursuing higher education or vocational training. This includes tuition support, educational supplies, technology stipends, and mentorship programming.

5️⃣ Women Veterans Programming
Funding will be directed to tailored workshops, peer support groups, and networking events for women veterans, including licensed facilitators, resource toolkits, and safe spaces to address healthcare, employment, and reintegration challenges.

Thank you to our Title Sponsor, RLI Corp, for making this impact possible — and to everyone who continues to support this mission. 💙 Stay tuned for more!

Next, we’re spotlighting Goodwill of Central Illinois General Wayne A. Downing Home for Veterans, a truly unique resource right here in Central Illinois. 🇺🇸

Support from our annual golf outing helps sustain the only Goodwill in North America that owns and operates a 24/7–staffed veterans home. 🏠 This funding supports permanent housing and essential services for 15 formerly homeless male veterans, many living with disabilities, through case management, counseling, and advocacy.

This year also marks 20 years of the General Wayne A. Downing Home for Veterans serving our community — a milestone worth celebrating. 👏 We’re grateful to share photos from our 2025 check presentation ceremony and highlight the impact of this partnership.

Thank you to our Title Sponsor, RLI Corp, and to everyone who continues to make this mission possible. 💙 More to come!

We’re starting our grant recipient spotlights with the Illinois Valley Fuller Center for Housing, a local organization doing meaningful work for Central Illinois veterans and their families. 🇺🇸

Support from last August’s Tee It Up for the Troops – Central Illinois Golf Outing helped fund critical home repairs for veterans and widows, ensuring safe and secure living conditions. 🏡 From essential safety upgrades to urgent plumbing repairs—including a recent $7,800 water line project—these funds are already making a difference.

Thank you to our Title Sponsor, RLI Corp, and to everyone who continues to support this mission. 💙 More grant recipient spotlights coming soon.

Each summer, the Tee It Up for the Troops – Central Illinois Golf Outing brings our community together to support veterans and military families. 🇺🇸⛳️

Last August, that support raised $41,450 locally and $50,900 total—including national granting—in funds that go directly toward providing hope, healing, and critical services for those who have served.

Since its inception 16 years ago, we've raised more than $1.29 million for local veteran and military family organizations in Central Illinois! 💥

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing photos from our 2025 check presentation ceremony and spotlighting the incredible organizations supported by last year’s event — along with the meaningful ways these funds are making a difference.

None of this would be possible without our Title Sponsor, RLI Corp, and the generous support of our golfers, sponsors, and volunteers. 💙

Stay tuned as we share the stories behind the mission!

“This country has not seen and probably will never know the true level of sacrifice of our veterans. As a civilian I owe an unpayable debt to all our military. The men of WWII were the greatest generation, perhaps Korea the forgotten, Vietnam the trampled, Cold War unsung, and Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan vets underestimated. Every generation has proved itself to be worthy to stand up to the precedent of the greatest generation. Going back to the Revolution, American soldiers have been the best in the world. Let’s all take a remembrance for all veterans who served or are serving, peace time or wartime and gone or still with us. May God Bless America and All Veterans.” - Thomas M Smith
