Pensacola's Judy Bense's book will be one of two representing Florida in the National Book Festival. Florida Humanities Center for the Book selected the two titles to represent Sunshine State literature at the upcoming National Book Festival in Washington D.C. and hers is one. Along with Judith Bense's Early Spanish Florida: Unearthing America’s Oldest Colony (University Press of Florida, 2026) is Eileen R. Meyer’s The Superlative A. Lincoln: Poems About Our 16th President (Charlesbridge, 2019). The selections are part of the Library of Congress’ “Great Reads from Great Places” program and will be added to the national “Great Reads” list at the National Book Festival on August 22.
