Tonight, the Pennsville Rotary had the pleasure of hosting the President of the Pennsville Township Historical Society Museum, Gail Mangiocco. Gail talked about the upcoming Road Knights Car Show at the museum this Saturday, August 15th, from 9am-2pm. It's supposed to be a beautiful day so come on out! It's a really cool event that combines classic cars, lots of exhibits displaying Pennsville's great history, crafters, food, and live music! The museum is located at 86 Church Landing Road In Pennsville.
We also had the pleasure of hosting Dawn Thompson, who is the manager at The Engine House located at 106 N Hook Road. She talked about The Engine House's upcoming 3-year anniversary and all the services the restaurant provides. Virtual golf, magician on Mondays, music bingo on Thursdays, live entertainment on Fridays, private parties and functions, you name it! The Engine House has been a tremendous addition to our community and Dawn has played a major role in their success.
Our club will ride once again in this year's Septemberfest parade that will be held on Saturday, September 12th. We will also be continuing our tradition of selling ice cream at The Septemberfest following the parade, and we look forward to serving you.
Pennsville Rotary member Stan Kite discussed the Operation Deep Blue Event that will be taking place on Sunday, September 27th, at Fort Mott State Park. The ceremony starts at 8:15am. Operation Deep Blue is an organization that was formed to increase awareness of law enforcement officers, other first responders and military service members who died in the line of duty, as well as raise funds to provide relief to their surviving family members. The funds are raised through a 225-mile kayak expedition that will start at Fort Mott and ultimately end in Washington D.C. on October 3rd. There will be a welcome reception for the kayakers, officials, families, etc., at The Engine House the night before, on Saturday, September 26th, at 6:45pm. Both of these events are open to the public.
Stan also talked about our Rock-N-Roast fundraiser for the Pennsville VFW that will be taking place on Saturday, October 3rd, from 4pm to 10pm at the Pennsville VFW. Tickets are $30 and are available now! You can either contact a local Pennsville Rotary member or call or text Stan Kite at (856) 364-5551, and he will arrange for you to get your tickets.
Grace Alliegro also spoke and talked about her time with the Pennsville Township Historical Society and presented Gail with a framed document dating back to 1987 that contained over 30 signatures from township residents who put the idea of our town having a historical society in motion. She also displayed a lovely painting she created as well and a map she drew of the old Riverview Beach Amusement Park. Grace is an amazing artist! She also read a thank you card we received from the Pennsville Memorial High School Interact Club.
