We are out on the ground for our latest Hope for Haiti distribution! As the community breaks into groups to safely receive their supplies, our trucks are loaded with life-saving food boxes and essential cooking oil.
If you took the time to help package meals at Lutheran Church of Hope, we want to show you exactly where your hard work went. Because of your dedication, families and children here are walking home with the nutrition they need to thrive.

Every box carried on a head today is a tangible reminder of God's provision, made possible by people thousands of miles away who chose to show up and serve.

September 1st is a date we need to remember because so many will never be able to forget. Seven years ago today, Hurricane Dorian brought unimaginable devastation to the island of Abaco. We pause today in quiet remembrance of all that was lost and the hard roads walked by so many families.

Yet when you stand in Abaco today, devastation is not the story that gets the final say. What shines brightest is the incredible heart, warmth, and resilience of the Bahamian people.

Step by step, house by house, and neighbor by neighbor, this community has done the hard, beautiful work of rebuilding, restoring, and bringing hope back to life. There is still important work ahead of us, but today we celebrate how far Abaco has come and what a gift this island is to the Bahamas and to all of us.

We are so excited to give you a peek inside our "new-ish" school kitchen, where our amazing local cooks are preparing meals for students from 1st grade all the way up through 7th (and soon to be 8th and 9th!). 🏫✨
Everything in the kitchen is cooked traditionally over charcoal (the cooks actually preferred it over gas!). But what makes this space extra special is its clever, sustainable design.

We built the kitchen with unique openings on the back walls. When the cooking is finished, the team can simply push the spent charcoal out through the openings, where it is collected and repurposed as fertilizer for our gardens. Talk about a full-circle system where nothing goes to waste! 🔄🌿

This kitchen is just one example of the incredible work being done by the nearly 150 local Haitians we are proud to employ across our five campuses.
