We might be winding down in regard to Pride month, but we still have some more events going on! Today, Friday, June 19, aka Juneteenth, the amazing people from D**e and Trans People of Color will be having their annual march. This year, they will be having it at Donigian Park, which is off of Valley Street in Providence. And tomorrow Rhode Island Pride will be having their Pride celebration at District Park, followed by the illuminated parade.

We learned of the passing of someone very dear to many of us spooky Qu**rs, as well as to Gen Xers and Millennials. It is heartbreaking to hear of Anthony Head's passing. Many of us know him from his work on the groundbreaking 90s TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer as the librarian/watcher/mentor to the title character, Rupert "Ripper" Giles, or from the cult classic 2008 gothic opera Repo! The Genetic Opera, or more recently, his role as Rupert Mannion in the hit show Ted Lasso.

Our hearts go out to his family, friends, castmates, and all of us who were touched by him, whether we met him in person at a convention or only knew him through the characters he played on both the small and big screens.

If you live in Providence and are looking to obtain salt for your walkway or driveway. You're now able to obtain up to 5 gallons worth of rock salt. But this is open to only Providence residents (sadly).

Thanks to a resolution introduced by Councilman Oscar Vargas (Ward 15) requesting the City provide salt to residents, the Administration has agreed to make salt available for free to all Providence residents, subject to availability, on Saturdays before or after winter storms.

Distribution will begin tomorrow, Saturday, February 21st, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 30 Shipyard Street.

Residents are required to bring their own bucket (up to 5 gallons) and provide proof of Providence residency.

WARNING: The material being handed out is a mixture of industrial-grade road salt and sand and should be handled and used with appropriate caution.
