It is with a warm and heartfelt sadness that we share the sad news of Tim Curry's passing, which happened late last night at his home in California. Tim's journey began in 1968 with a performance in the hit musical Hair in his home country of England. He spent many years captivating audiences on stages across the UK, but it was in 1973 that he truly became a household name as Dr. Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Two years later, he reprised this iconic role in the feature film, cementing his place in cult classic history. Over the years, Tim brought to life numerous unforgettable characters that touched many hearts. These include Wadsworth in the film adaptation of Clue, The Lord of Darkness in the fantasy movie Legend (alongside a young Tom Cruise), Mr. Hector in the sequel to Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the sinister Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King's It, and the adventurous Long John Silver in The Muppet's Treasure Island, acting opposite Kermit the Frog, among many others. His performances have left lasting memories, and he will be deeply missed by all who enjoyed his work. Most importantly, he will be dearly missed by his family and close friends. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to everyone touched by his life and legacy.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Dolly Parton, who passed away yesterday at age 80. A trailblazer since starting her career in country music at the age of 10 in 1956, she gained success in the mid-1960s and rose to immense fame in 1973 with her hit song "Jolene." Her string of hits continued, including the memorable "I Will Always Love You," which gained even greater recognition when Whitney Houston covered it in 1992 for the film "The Bodyguard." Perhaps her most iconic song is "9 to 5" from 1980, an anthem for hardworking and underpaid workers and the title track of the film starring Dolly, fellow Q***r icon Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda. Beyond music and acting, Dolly was a vocal supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and transgender issues in Tennessee, and she regularly provided books to children nationwide, including here in Rhode Island. Her presence will be deeply missed by those who enjoyed her humor, music, and activism.
