Cried my eyes out this morning little skittle crossed the rainbow bridge a about a hour ago today . Everyone at the rescue worked around the clock to make sure she got her medicine, fluids and extra protein she seemed like she was getting better but her kidneys said other wise we knew her chance was low but she was a true soldier and fighter
My heart is broken
I am just happy that she knew lots of love when she was with us and we did everything to keep her alive ❤️

This month alone, 7 elderly ferrets yes 7 !! have come into the Rhode Island Ferret Sanctuary. Sadly, 6 of them need medical care. Some arrived with tumors, mobility issues, chronic illnesses, severe weight loss, and other conditions that require immediate veterinary attention.

These sweet seniors didn’t choose to grow old without a home. They deserve comfort, proper medical care, full bellies, warm beds, and to know they’re loved for however much time they have left.

But we can’t do it alone.

Every donation—whether it’s $5, $10, $25, or more—goes directly toward:
🩺 Veterinary exams and medications
💊 Pain management and ongoing treatments
🥣 High-quality food and supplements
🛏️ Soft bedding and hospice care for our elderly babies

Donations can be sent to PayPal Venmo and Cash App $lex222999

If you’re unable to donate, sharing this post is one of the biggest ways you can help us reach someone who can.

These 7 little lives are depending on kindness from people like you. Let’s show them they haven’t been forgotten. ❤️

🐾 Donate today and help us give these senior ferrets the love and care they deserve.

❤️ Every dose matters.

This little one came to the Rhode Island Ferret Sanctuary in heartbreaking condition. She arrived with severe hair loss, poor body condition, and needed immediate medical attention.

Today she’s taking her medicine like a champ. It may not seem like much, but every syringe of medication is another step toward healing.

Providing this level of care isn’t cheap . Between veterinary visits, medications, high quality food, supplements, bedding, and daily care, the costs add up quickly. We never turn our backs on ferrets that need us, but we can only continue because of the kindness of people like you.

If you’d like to help give this sweet girl a second chance, please consider making a donation. Every dollar—whether it’s $1, $5, or $20—goes directly toward her medical care and the care of the many other rescued ferrets at the sanctuary.

Donations can be sent to PayPal Venmo and Cash App

Thank you for helping us give abandoned and neglected ferrets the love and treatment they deserve. ❤️

We wanted to give everyone an update on one of the two sisters who recently came into the Rhode Island Ferret Sanctuary.

First, we want to thank every single person who has donated, shared her story, and kept these girls in your thoughts. Your support has meant more than you know.

While she has shown some improvement since arriving in our care, we also received heartbreaking news. After her veterinary evaluation, we learned that she has advanced cancer. Unfortunately, it has progressed too far for treatment to cure it.
Because of this, she has now been placed on hospice care.
Right now, our focus is no longer on curing her illness, but on giving her the best quality of life possible. She will spend every day surrounded by warmth, soft blankets, good food, pain management, and people who love her. We will make sure she knows comfort, kindness, and that she is never alone.

Sadly, we also have another heartbreaking update.

Her beloved sister, who was surrendered alongside her, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 💔 We take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering, but our hearts ache that these girls had to endure so much.

Please continue to keep our sweet hospice girl in your thoughts. Every donation helps us provide her medications, veterinary care, and everything she needs to remain comfortable for whatever time she has left.

Thank you for helping us make sure that, even though we can’t change her past, we can fill the rest of her days with love.
Donations can be sent to cashapp Venmo and PayPal

❤️ No ferret deserves to face the end of their life alone. Here, she never will.

Yesterday, two elderly ferret sisters arrived at Rhode Island Ferret Sanctuary after their owner made one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can ever face.

She loved these girls deeply.

But when her elderly mother could no longer afford the mounting veterinary costs, she knew they deserved a chance at medical care she simply couldn’t provide.

When we opened their carrier, our hearts broke.
One little girl was suffering far more than anyone realized
She arrived with
A painful pr*****ed v***a
A large tumor growing on her neck
Scabs and irritated skin covering parts of her body
Severe patchy fur loss
Signs of chronic discomfort and neglect of her medical needs not from lack of love, but from lack of resources.

And then we met her sister.

Her sister can no longer use her back legs.

She drags herself forward, doing her best to keep up despite whatever is happening inside her tiny body. We don’t yet know if it’s neurological, injury related, cancer, adrenal disease, or something else entirely. What we do know is that she deserves answers.

These girls spent their lives together.

Now they are depending on us together.

Over the next several days they will need veterinary exams, diagnostics, medications, treatment for their skin issues, evaluation of the prolapse, and potentially surgery to remove the neck tumor. Their sister may need imaging, mobility support, long-term medications, or specialized care.

Not because they’re old.
Not because they’re sick.
Not because their care is expensive.

Every animal deserves compassion, no matter their age or condition.

💜 $5 helps us buy medication.
💜 $10 helps cover supplies and supportive care.
💜 $25 helps fund diagnostic testing.
💜 Any amount helps us fight for these girls.

If you can’t donate, please share this post. Sometimes one share reaches the person who can change everything.

These sisters have already lost so much.

Let’s show them that being surrendered wasn’t the end of their story it was the beginning of their second chance.

Donations can be sent directly to Rhode Island Ferret Sanctuary through our donation links.
