The Cities of Pawtucket and Central Falls invite residents to join our Joint Hazard Mitigation Plan Semi-Annual Review Meeting on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM via Zoom.

We’ll discuss recent storms and lessons learned, ongoing projects and priorities, and ways to better prepare for future hazards, including flooding, extreme heat, and severe weather. Your input matters as we work together to build safer, more resilient communities!

Lead in Rhode Island Soil: Community Results

From May 1 through June 30, 2026, Roots 2Empower conducted community education, outreach, and soil screening in Providence and Newport Counties. The project focused on communities facing increased environmental and public health risks and provided residents with information about lead exposure, soil safety, and safer gardening practices.

Approximately 450 people were reached, 360 health education materials were distributed, 35 residents received one-on-one education, and 25 referrals were provided. Project records indicate that 41 soil samples were collected. The submitted results spreadsheet contains 39 documented laboratory results, listed below using sample identification numbers to protect participants’ privacy.

These screening results are intended to support community education and follow-up. They should not be interpreted as a complete environmental assessment of an entire property.
