k's citizens. We do this by offering the best educational resources and opportunities for all those who enjoy their liberties and freedom. We provide these resources to our local communities, law enforcement agencies, school faculties, and government administrations to make sure they are able to make informed decisions that will truly result in both the greatest advancements of public safety and individual liberty. SCOPE believes that while firearm ownership has a deep rooted history in the traditions of Americans, advancements in technology have caused a rational concern amongst Citizens. Unfortunately, this has resulted in uninformed politicians passing bad legislation that has failed at actually preventing crimes, reduce accidental casualties, or keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Contrarily, it has only affected the law-abiding citizens and furthered the demonization of a firearm based on its cosmetic features and has psychologically shifted the blame for any criminal use of a firearm from the shooter to the weapon itself. SCOPE endeavors to change the culture of New York from one of fear to one of respect when it comes to firearm ownership. We will always use our primary tool of education and compliment that work with awareness, activism, and appeal.

You be the Jury by Tom Reynolds: On TV, the crime story usually ends with no doubt as to who committed the crime. In real life, it’s circumstantial evidence that convicts a criminal.

I applied that same theory to testing the impact that gun owners might have on gubernatorial elections in New York State. I used the last 3 NYS Governor’s elections to test if the pro-gun Republican could have won if gun owners turned out to vote under various scenarios. There are knowns and there are unknowns so we fill the gaps with circumstantial evidence. I don’t want to bury you in statistics so I’ll explain as simply as possible. When is a right not a right? by Ron Havlen: I am taking the online NYS driver’s courses offered to help reduce car insurance expenses. During this course, I’ve come upon a section about assuming an inherent right to drive. This section really struck me. I’m going to be careful to avoid using the direct wording in this section to avoid any copyright infringements.

This section deals with people who believe they have an inherent right to drive. It states that if driving were a right, people couldn’t be required to show they have the skill, ability and knowledge to operate a car safely. If driving were a right, people couldn’t be required to take any tests or show skill levels before getting a license to drive. If driving were a right, anyone could drive a car, regardless of skill. Gerrymandering by Tom Reynolds: No one can contest it (no sane person) when I state that the Democrat Party leadership wants to do away with our 2nd Amendment rights and to do that they will try anything, direct or indirect. We are about to see another indirect attempt that could be more dangerous than any of the proposed bills that directly threaten 2A.

New York Democrats’ gerrymandering frenzy was reignited after the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) struck down race-based redistricting. Basically, a state can’t gerrymander congressional districts based on race. Democrats are accusing Republicans of bringing back ‘Jim Crow Laws’ because Republicans are against racism. Do you understand that? Read more here: https://www.scopeny2a.org/Briefings/13628311

The Abyss by Tom Reynolds: I normally try to ignore NY City politics unless it directly affects SCOPE. But…NYSFocus had an article that was too good not to share the highlights for the amusement of those of us ‘upstate.’

Today, here is a NY City Council special election being voted upon. The smoke-filled-room manipulations show a lot about what really happens ‘downstate’ and what we 2nd Amendment defenders are up against in a NY City controlled state.

Lindsey Boylan, a former aide to Andrew Cuomo, was the first person to publicly accuse the ex-governor of sexual harassment. She is now running in the special election for the District 3 City Council seat. Boylan is running against Carl Wilson (and two others.) Wilson has much of the establishment’s support in the race.
