The Village of Newark is on the brink of transformation. That’s one of the many reasons the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council chose it to receive $10 million from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). From years of surveys and focus groups to gauge what Newark and the region wanted and needed before submittal of the application, to monthly open meetings of the Local Planning Committee comprised of cross-sections of the community and surrounding area, state partners and a state-appointed consultant, Newark has made it clear that its goal is to keep moving forward.

Wayne County Business Council Lunch & Learn – New and Updated Labor Laws



Join Stacey Salgado of the NYS Department of Labor for a presentation to learn about employer requirements for compliance with newer and recently updated labor laws, many of which are especially important in moving toward equity for women across our state.

We will discuss a variety of topics including services available to businesses through the NYS Department of Labor, minimum wage, laws surrounding salary history, pay transparency, equal pay, breast milk expression in the workplace, and more.

Additionally, we will cover information on the gender wage gap in New York State and outreach being done under the federal Fostering Access, Rights, and Equity (FARE) grant.

What Do You Know About Alzheimer's Disease?
As more and more people are working into their late sixties and into their seventies, there are more and more people working with early Alzheimer's symptoms, The Wayne County Business Council has partnered with the Alzheimer's Association to offer an informational session on Alzheimer's Disease to ensure employers are aware of the signs of Alzheimers and how to discuss concerns sensitively if an employee exhibits any of these signs.

10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's
Alzheimer's and other dementias cause memory, thinking and behavior problems that interfere with daily living. Join us to learn how to recognize common signs of the disease; how to approach someone about memory concerns; the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis; possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process, and Alzheimer's Association resources.

Alzheimer's and dementia do not come with an instruction manual, but there are resources available to help.
