What an amazing weekend at the Luke Peltier Memorial Tournament. We are so grateful for every Matmen parent, family member, wrestler, coach, and volunteer who stepped up and made setup, breakdown, and the entire tournament run so smoothly from start to finish. It truly takes a team, and this weekend showed exactly what our wrestling community is all about.
Anytime something came up, people jumped in, worked together, and got it handled fast. That kind of support and unity is what makes this community so special.
We also want to thank all of the clubs, coaches, wrestlers, and officials from across Alaska who came and helped make this event such a success. We know this weekend also landed during the U.S. Open, and many athletes were out of town, yet we still had an incredible turnout and an awesome tournament.
While every club hosts a tournament each year, this one means something deeper to us. Our home tournament was renamed in honor of Luke Peltier, who passed away on July 17, 2024. This event is about more than wrestling. It is about remembering Luke, honoring his legacy, and keeping his memory alive in the sport he loved so much.
There is no better way to celebrate Luke than with a gym full of wrestlers competing, learning, cheering each other on, and doing what he loved most.
A special thank you to Luke’s family for allowing us the honor of celebrating his life and legacy through this tournament. We are grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us to help keep his memory alive in the wrestling community.
Thank you, Alaska wrestling family. Thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend so meaningful and successful. We are grateful for all of you. 💙❤️🤍
