𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲.

For some, coming out was a 𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. A weight lifted. A chance to finally live out loud as their most authentic selves.

For others, it was 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙪𝙡. A door opened before they were ready. A truth revealed by someone else before they could share it themselves. A moment met with rejection rather than acceptance.

Others never formally came out at all, but simply began 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 their most authentic lives and allowed those around them to see their truth along the way.

Some flung the door open themselves, ready to embrace the world as they are. Others are still standing behind it, waiting for the right time. And some know that, for the sake of their own safety, opening that door just isn’t an option right now.

𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩. There is no deadline. And no one owes the world an explanation of who they are.

This National Coming Out Day, we celebrate those who have stepped through the door, stand beside those still finding their way, and hold space for those who aren’t yet able to open it safely.

Because we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and loved for exactly who they are, whether the world knows it yet or not.

No matter where you are on your journey, 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙁𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 💖🚪🌈

In honor of October’s LGBTQ+ History Month, we’ve teamed up with Etcetera Coffeehouse to present 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗚𝗔𝗬𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆: 𝗔𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀! 🖼️🌈✨

Featuring the work of 11 local q***r artists, the exhibit will be on display October 1–November 30 at Etcetera Coffeehouse’s 6th Street location.

Join us Thursday, October 8 from 6–8PM for a reception celebrating the artists and their work. Come grab a coffee, experience the exhibit, and help us celebrate the incredible creative talent within our local q***r community. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

A QUICK CLARIFICATION DIRECTLY FROM OUTFIT.

We’ve seen some recent coverage from WPSD-TV describing OutFit as “temporarily closing,” and we want to take a moment to clarify what we actually announced:

OutFit is NOT closing. We are taking an indefinite — but TEMPORARY — hiatus. We will be back.

As we shared in our original announcement, our personal life must take precedence right now, and we simply do not have the capacity to maintain normal OutFit operations at this time. There is a difference between stepping away for an undetermined amount of time and closing our organization, and we want to make sure our community understands that distinction.

We also want to address the coverage itself.

OutFit has been serving this community, building programs, creating events, and showing up for our LGBTQIA+ community for years. WPSD did not announce our launch, introduce our organization to the community, or highlight the work we were beginning. In the 2+ years since we formed, our work and organization have rarely been reported on at all. But today they were quick to announce our “closure” — without ever reaching out to us for a statement or clarification.

That is particularly frustrating because our original announcement explicitly asked for privacy and space while our family navigates a difficult and very personal season.

The resulting coverage has created an overwhelming amount of additional attention and correspondence — the exact opposite of the space we asked for.

We understand that OutFit is a community organization, and we know our community cares about us. We are incredibly grateful for that. But our personal circumstances are just that: personal. We are not going to be sharing additional details, and we ask that everyone please respect that boundary.

We believe our community deserves accurate information, and we believe organizations deserve the opportunity to speak for themselves — especially when reporting involves sensitive personal circumstances.

So, to be absolutely clear:

👉 OutFit is not closing.
👉 We are on an indefinite, but temporary, hiatus.
👉 We will be back.
👉 And right now, we are asking for privacy, patience, and space.

To everyone who has reached out with love, concern, encouragement, prayers, good vibes, and support: thank you. Truly. We see you, we appreciate you, and your kindness means more than you know.

For now, please let us take the time we need.

‼️‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE ‼️‼️

To our beautiful community,

First and foremost, our hiatus is indefinite at this time — but it is temporary. We will be back. 💖

However, our personal lives must take precedence right now, and we simply do not have the capacity to continue normal OutFit business operations at this time.

Here’s what that means for our community:

👉 The Art GAYllery at Etcetera Coffeehouse is on display now through the end of November. A reception celebrating the artists will be held on October 8th from 6–8 PM. Please go visit, enjoy the exhibit, and support the incredibly talented q***r artists whose work is being featured.

👉 There will not be an October drag show as originally planned.

👉 We will not be planning any new events until further notice.

👉 Outstanding OutFit APPROVED renewal fees are paused for the time being. We will be in contact with participating businesses when we are able to resume those conversations.

👉 New OutFit APPROVED applications are not currently being processed. We will follow up when normal business operations resume.

While we are incredibly grateful for the love and concern our community has shown us, we are extremely overwhelmed with correspondence right now.

We kindly ask that you please respect our privacy and give us the space we need at this time. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers, send good vibes and healing energy, or whatever your thing may be. 💖

Hi friends.

While we have a big, beautiful community that we are so grateful for, behind the scenes we are just two regular people. When circumstances beyond our control arise, it can be very difficult to manage it all.

If you have reached out to us recently, submitted an OutFit APPROVED program application, or are otherwise waiting for a response from us right now, please know you are not being ignored. Normal business operations are paused as we work through some personal matters. However, as always, we will continue to give as much effort and energy to our community as we can.

In the meantime, just know we love you.

We’ve spent the last week bringing visibility to the bisexuals of our community, and spreading awareness to some of the adversities they can face.

But today – on Bisexuality Day – we 𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 our bisexual baddie babes, in all their 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙙𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮! 🩷💜💙

We celebrate bi people who are 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚,
and bi people who are 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙.
Bi people who are in 𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙚-𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 relationships,
and in 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩-𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 relationships.
