Director Spotlight: Howard Cook – Safety Director

Meet Howard Cook, Safety Director for Kids Building Michigan and Director of Operations at State Crushing in Oxford, Michigan.

Howard is known for his hands-on leadership, commitment to operational excellence, and strong focus on workplace safety. As Director of Operations at State Crushing, he helps ensure projects are completed efficiently while maintaining the highest safety standards.

At Kids Building Michigan, Howard brings that same dedication to his role as Safety Director, helping create safe, engaging experiences while supporting the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

When he's not at work or volunteering, Howard enjoys spending time with his family as a proud grandfather. You'll often find him out on the water boating, exploring trails in his side-by-side (SXS), or enjoying the open road on his motorcycle.

Howard's passion for safety, leadership, and mentoring makes him an invaluable part of the Kids Building Michigan team. Thank you, Howard, for helping build a safer, stronger future for our industry! 👏🚧🏍️

Director Spotlight: Zack Berger – Treasurer

Meet Zack Berger, Treasurer for Kids Building Michigan and Trucking Coordinator at Adamo Group Inc.

For the past 10 years, Zack has built a career in the demolition and trucking industry, where he drives a gravel train, coordinates trucking operations, and manages bids and quotes for materials and transportation. His work plays an important role in keeping projects running efficiently from start to finish.

Zack is passionate about helping students discover the many opportunities available in the skilled trades.

"I believe college isn't the only path to success after high school. There are so many rewarding, hands-on careers in construction and the skilled trades, and I enjoy helping young people see what's possible."

As a husband, father of two, and Kids Building Michigan board member, Zack is proud to share his experience and encourage the next generation to explore careers that offer purpose, stability, and opportunity.

Director Spotlight: Brian Borich – School Outreach Director

Meet Brian Borich, School Outreach Director for Kids Building Michigan and Sales Manager for the Materials Division at Ajax Paving Industries, Inc. (Ajax Materials Corporation).

Brian oversees hot mix asphalt (HMA) sales, working with everyone from local paving contractors to municipalities, counties, and MDOT projects. His role includes pricing, scheduling, account management, and coordinating material deliveries—helping keep Michigan's roads and infrastructure moving forward.

What drives Brian most is creating opportunities for the next generation.

"I love what I do, and I believe it's important to show young people that our industry offers incredible career opportunities—especially for those who choose a path other than a traditional four-year college. Skilled trades provide rewarding careers, great wages, and the chance to build a successful future without taking on significant college debt."

Brian is proud to serve as Kids Building Michigan's School Outreach Director, helping connect students with the many exciting careers available in Michigan's construction and infrastructure industries.

Board Member Spotlight...

We're proud to introduce Adam Fodor, our Vice President & Event Logistics Director and one of the founding board members of Kids Building Michigan!

A proud Lake Orion native, Adam brings more than 20 years of experience in the excavating and trucking industry. As a member of the team at Bostwick Excavating, Inc. and a track construction operator for Monster Jam, he has built a career rooted in hard work, leadership, and a passion for the skilled trades.

Adam is also a proud father to his son, Blake, a Lake Orion High School graduate who hopes to one day own his own contracting company. His family's connection to the industry fuels his passion for helping young people discover the many rewarding careers available in construction and the skilled trades.

As one of the founding board members of Kids Building Michigan, Adam is committed to inspiring the next generation by showing students that there are exciting opportunities beyond the traditional path after high school. His dedication and expertise play a vital role in making our mission a reality.

Meet Our Founder..

Every great idea starts with a vision, and Kids Building Michigan began with one man who never outgrew the sandbox.

Meet Brian Webster, Founder and President of Kids Building Michigan and owner of Webster Excavating, Inc.

Brian has spent his entire life in the construction industry. Growing up around excavating equipment, he developed a passion for the skilled trades at an early ageand, as he likes to say, "I have never left the sandbox!"

Together with his wife, Tammy, who manages the office for Webster Excavating and run an orchard, they're raising two children who keep their family busy and on the go.

Brian founded Kids Building Michigan with one simple goal: to give kids an experience he wished every child could have. He envisioned an event where children could do more than just sit in a piece of equipment or look at machinery from behind a fence. He wanted them to climb in, get their hands dirty, build something, explore the skilled trades, and discover the excitement and opportunities that a career in construction can offer.

That vision has grown into an event that inspires hundreds of children and families each year, helping them see that there are countless rewarding careers waiting for them in Michigan's skilled trades.
