• Día de los Mu***os presentation by Michelle Garcia from the University of Iowa.
• Day of the Dead Scholarship Winners Announcement!🎓
• Cultural activities, family movie, and of course the altar displays!

LULAC invites local organizations, businesses, and community groups to be part of our Día de los Mu***os Celebration by creating an ofrenda (Day of the Dead altar)! 💀🌺

An ofrenda is a beautiful way to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away while celebrating their lives, stories, and the traditions that keep their memories alive.

✨ We invite you to create and showcase an ofrenda that reflects your organization’s creativity, culture, and the meaningful memories you wish to honor.

We are excited to give away TWO $250 SCHOLARSHIPS to students who share what Día de los Mu***os means to them and how this beautiful tradition has impacted their life, family, or community.

Día de los Mu***os is a Mexican tradition where families and communities come together to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away. Through colorful ofrendas (altars), photographs, favorite foods, flowers, music, and stories, we keep their memories alive and celebrate the lives they shared with us.

This beautiful tradition reminds us that although our loved ones may no longer be with us physically, their love, stories, traditions, and memories continue to live on.

Try Something New invites O.L.A. participants to explore something different, such as an event, activity, or place they haven't experienced before. It's about stepping outside your comfort zone, meeting new people, and seeing things from a fresh perspective.

Dhairyasheel Gaikwad and Jim Fineran chose to attend Día de los Mu***os celebration organized by LULAC.

"The celebration beautifully reflected the belief in welcoming the spirits of the departed back to be remembered and celebrated with joy rather than sorrow. Experiencing this tradition firsthand helped deepen my appreciation for the cultural values, customs, and symbolism associated with Día de los Mu***os." stated
