Arts and culture bring our community to life — they inspire creativity, celebrate local talent, and help us tell the stories that make Ottumwa unique.

Since 2011, the Bright Ideas Community Enrichment Fund has awarded $1,087,591 to Arts & Culture projects across Wapello County.

These investments have supported public art, performances, youth arts education, cultural programming, and the organizations that make our community vibrant and connected.

The summer Bright Ideas grant cycle is currently open until June 30 at 5:00 pm.
Eligible applicants: 501(c)(3) organizations located in or serving Wapello County.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? A volunteer committee of 12-15 local residents review every Bright Ideas Community Enrichment Fund application. They score proposals, discuss community impact, and recommend funding to the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation Board.

Most volunteers serve their full two 3-year terms—because the work matters. As reviewer Maria Jaime says: “𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦.”

The summer Bright Ideas grant cycle runs June 1-30 for 501(c)(3) organizations serving Wapello County.
