Calling all photographers. The Wesley United Methodist church is slated to be demolished on Monday November 29, 2021. It would be good time to capture a historic moment in Ottumwa. - Norman Ward

Photographers have to be willing to step out of their comfort zone and not be afraid to get looked at as being "odd". In this photo, I laid down in the street, because I wanted the firemen to look taller, and I wanted to capture them in juxtaposition with the store signage in the background. Several captions could apply here. For example, "Meeting Around the Water Cooler", playing upon how the pumper truck is used to cool down fires. Another caption might be, "When your Office Equipment is a Fire Engine." Or, one could reference the Quality of service that these Ottumwa Firemen do. I try to scout around and locate connections like this, Attempting to give a story line, besides the obvious Firefighting theme. Taken 080921 in front of Hotel Ottumwa. -Norman Ward

I’m testing the pulse of the group. Does anyone want to seriously try to get this going again? I think it would be highly beneficial for the community. Times are tough right now… what better way to unite then through a passion or a hobby? Or develop a new skill? Or just meet good people of the community? The difference a day makes....Tried getting a glimpse of Jupiter and Saturn, but ended up taking shots of the Bridge View Center with a frozen river, because the clouds hid the planets from view.
The next day, temperatures warmed up to the mid 40's and the wind made waves. I could see the planets in plain view, but my measly telescope could not get in close enough, so I took some of the same scenery as the night before. Weather conditions change often, and can shift the mood of a photo's outcome. It is good to touch bases periodically, just to see what beauty comes of changing weather.
