Board President Paul Lear represented the museum during the Oswego Home School Association's History Faire at the SUNY Oswego Fallbrook Barn today. Lear served as one of nearly a dozen judges who reviewed student history exhibits for content, historical accuracy, and appearance. Judges also questioned their creators knowledge of their subjects that covered a wide range of Oswego County history topics from the Underground Railroad to the War of 1812. An exhibit on the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter/Safe Haven Museum won first prize in the older student class.

Replacement of deteriorated wood lattice with waterproof PVC boards has been completed on the north side of the museum porch, matching that done earlier on the south side. Following a review of the building and security procedures, the work was recommended by Homeland Security and other experts to eliminate openings where people with bad intentions could enter. It was conducted with funding from membships and donations.

As groups of SUNY Oswego alumni came and went through the museum on this beautiful Alumni Weekend; harrowing, weeding, raking, seeding, and covering the new grass seed with burlap netting was completed.

Two groups from the American Patriot operated by American Cruise Lines toured the museum today. Board president Paul Lear served as their bus guide and provided historical background on Oswego's military and Holocaust history.

On Thursday evening Museum President Paul Lear traveled to the Turin Public Library in Lewis County, NY and presented "Where the Holocaust Came to America: the History and Significance of the WWII Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter," to an appreciative audience.
