Honor | Remember | Never Forget

POW/MIA Recognition Day 9.18.2026

09/11/2026

We had the pleasure of meeting Bill Goldfoos, a 97 year old U.S. Army veteran, today in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Bill entered military service in 1948 and later served as a C-124 Globemaster loadmaster and weight and balance officer at Roswell, New Mexico. In that role, he supported Strategic Air Command operations connected to the historic 509th, the unit best known for its association with the Enola Gay and America's early atomic aviation program.

After his military service, Bill became an inventor and entrepreneur. He ran Aerolite, a cycling company, and was directly involved in designing and developing innovative lightweight cycling components, including titanium pedals and early aerodynamic cycling equipment.

It was an honor to thank Bill for his service and recognize a lifetime of ingenuity and accomplishment.

Thank you for your service, Bill!

🇺🇸 Congratulations to Andrew S., the 2026 recipient of the Thank A Service Member Community Scholarship!

We are proud to recognize Andrew, a recent graduate of Oswego High School in Oswego, New York, for his exceptional leadership, academic achievement, and commitment to serving others.

The son of a U.S. Navy veteran, Andrew has distinguished himself through years of involvement in his school, church, scouting, athletics, and numerous leadership roles. This fall, he will continue his family's legacy of service by attending the United States Naval Academy, where he will prepare to serve our nation as a future naval officer.

Andrew's character, dedication, and desire to serve embody the values that this scholarship was established to honor. We are proud to support him as he begins this exciting new chapter.

Congratulations, Andrew! We wish you every success at the Naval Academy and throughout your future service to our country.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the faculty and scholarship committee at Oswego High School for partnering with us each year to recognize outstanding students who exemplify service, leadership, and integrity.

🇺🇸 Thank you to our supporters for making this scholarship possible.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten. We carry their memory forward in everything we do.

Today, we ask you to join us in honoring their legacy. Whether it's a moment of silence, a kind word to a Gold Star family, or a donation to support those they left behind, every act of remembrance matters.

To the fallen: We remember. We are grateful. We are forever in your debt.
To their families: We stand with you, today and always.

Despite some moderate rain and winds, the 2024 Military Appreciation Charter Boat Fishing Event was a huge success. We hosted Veterans from multiple generations, and sincerely appreciate their service to our country. We'd also like to extend a special thanks to our event sponsors, Constellation Energy and Oswego County Federal Credit Union.

What a fun night at SUNY Oswego's Military Night at the Oswego vs. Buffalo State Hockey Game. Thank A Service Member was proud to have our Executive Director, Peter Allen as the guest of honor, drop the puck to start the game.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about our organization. We were able to distribute 50 Stone's Candies ice cream coupons to the kids and over 100 charity t-shirts to the fans.

Special thanks to Brendan McInerney, Ken Cisson, and the SUNY staff and volunteers for hosting the event!
