Feather River Lapidary & Mineral Society

Feather River Lapidary & Mineral Society Rock hounding club, our Club house and Shop is located in Oroville, California. Other classes and jewelry making techniques are available.

This hobby club was founded in 2008 in Oroville, CA to promote and encourage all aspects of collecting and studying rocks, minerals, and fossils, and the pursuit of all types of lapidary and jewelry art. The club's goals are to educate members through field trips, lectures, classes, and hands-on experience about rocks and lapidary techniques. The club has a top-rated rock cutting and polishing sho

p where members can learn to cut, shape and polish rocks for jewelry and objects of art. Members also conduct outreach programs to schools to increase knowledge and interest to students and teachers in the local communities. The club hosts an annual show every September in Chico which includes dealers, jewelry, rough rock, equipment, a raffle, and much more for families and children. The show has grown throughout the years attracting over 3,000 attendees, and gives our members a chance to show off their artwork. The club is as a non-profit organization affiliated with the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies (CFMS) and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). Our rock shop is located on private property so the address is not listed here. Members please contact other members or a board member for directions. Hours at the shop can vary but usually Wednesday evenings and Sundays 9:30 am - 2 pm.

Lots of cool specimens have been shared with the kids. This will be an ongoing project for the kids to help their interest in rocks and minerals and fossils for those kids that were unable to attend. You can still do this project and get a badge. Come to the next meeting or those others and Holly and Dennis will help you.
