Mary Beth wants to tell you her story. Hers is one of loss, drama and alcoholism which has led her where she never thought she’d be. 💙💛

“I never thought I’d be here. I lost my dad, and the following events in my life are why I’m here. When I first got here I was in a bad situation on the street, I was not a fun drunk, my body was paying the price, and people prey on people in wheelchairs.

I want to tell the whole world that I’m not only sober now, I’m in the best place now to return to a successful life. I want to hear from my friends again, and I want to hear from my family again. And all this I owe to the kind, caring people here at the rescue mission. They helped me at every step, there are so many helpful and kind people here. They’re saving everybody’s lives. It’s an amazing place. Thank you.”

Making beds, fluffing pillows and changing lives daily. ❤️

We are currently doing enough laundry to circle the whole building every day. Everything always goes smoothly except for the fitted sheets, which we are convinced were designed by a chaotic evil genius. Despite the folding struggles, our laundry rooms are humming and the linens are smelling amazing.
🙏 A huge thank you to our incredible team of volunteers for making sure our guests always have a fresh, cozy bed to sleep in! 🌀🛏️

California is seeing encouraging data in 2026 regarding expanding infrastructure for drug recovery.

This is highlighted by declining overdose deaths in major regions like Los Angeles and San Francisco, major expansions in low-barrier care infrastructure, all alongside statewide rollouts of innovative treatment programs, through the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).

CAL FIRE (the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) traces its origins back to 1885 when the state legislature created the California State Board of Forestry. Over nearly 140 years, the agency evolved from a small advisory board into a comprehensive, all-risk emergency and wildland fire response department.

OROVILLE FIRE DEPT was founded in 1856, and was California's second fire company. Early crews used a hay wagon for gear fueled by the Gold Rush boom. After 166 years as an independent municipal agency, Oroville transitioned its fire protection services in July 2022 through a cooperative agreement with CAL FIRE.

California's overall homeless population has dropped by 2.8% this year. It’s working 🕊️

According to federal data released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, this good news is marking the first notable statewide decline in years. Unsheltered homelessness saw an even steeper reduction of roughly 7% to 9% as regional investments in organizations like us, with interim and permanent housing have taken effect.
