Family, can you believe it’s been FIVE YEARS since Orlando started our very own Trans March? Yes, FIVE! 🏳️‍⚧️💙🩷🤍

In just nine days, on October 17, we’ll come together at Lake Eola Park to celebrate our joy, pride, power, and authenticity!

GAP will be there from noon for Trans Pride, joining the rally at 1 PM and the Trans March at 4 PM—and we want YOU beside us! ✨

This march is part of a legacy we hope future generations will carry forward. But that legacy needs all of us—our presence, our voices, and our love for this community. Whether this is your first march or your fifth, you belong here. 🫶🏽

33 PEOPLE. One clinic. And a new record for Gender Advancement Project. 🏳️‍⚧️🩵🤍🩷

Our latest Name Change Clinic was a success, serving 33 people from different parts of Florida — our largest clinic to date.

For the last few clinics, we’ve already been feeling the squeeze at Stafford House, the space that has been home to our name change clinics for the past several years. But this clinic officially broke the record. We ran out of space.

That tells us something important: the need is growing, and our community is showing up. We’re now looking ahead to finding a larger space so we can continue serving everyone who needs us.

To our incredible team, thank you for the care, patience, and heart you bring to this work.

And to our partners — VoteRiders, Divas in Dialogue, Stafford House, and Maia Monet at LGBT+ Center Orlando - The Center — thank you for helping make this possible.

To everyone who shared our post, told someone about the clinic, volunteered, or helped spread the word: thank you. This is community.

We will not let anything stop our existence, our visibility, or our community from moving forward in Florida.

Our next Name Change Clinic will take place in November or December, with the date and details announced on our social media at the end of October.

If you’re interested in pursuing a legal name change, we invite you to join us for our quarterly clinic! Attendees will receive a name change packet, assistance completing the forms, and an opportunity to have their questions answered throughout the process.

We’ll also provide assistance with voter registration, and the costs associated with filing the legal name change will be covered for participants attending this clinic. 💖

The Gender Advancement Project was proud to participate in the 3rd Annual Equality Florida Voices for Change Conference, surrounded by TGNC leaders, advocates, and community members from across Florida. 🏳️‍⚧️🩷

There is something powerful about coming together to learn from one another, strengthen relationships, strategize, and have the conversations necessary to continue moving our communities forward.

Even in challenging times, our community continues to move forward together. We gather, support one another, strengthen our collective voice, and create spaces where TGNC people can be seen, heard, supported, and empowered.

We were grateful to hear from Equality Florida Executive Director Stratton Pollitzer, who reaffirmed his and Equality Florida’s commitment to the transgender community. Reflecting on the hateful rhetoric he heard about gay people as a young adult, he reminded us how far the movement has come, including marriage equality, and recognized that many of those same tactics are now being directed toward transgender people. His message was a powerful reminder not to lose hope.

Thank you to Equality Florida Board Members Darcel Stevens, Justin Bell, Nathan Bruemmer, Danny Humphress, and Ida Eskamani for showing up and standing alongside our community, and to Angelique Godwin, Ryan Reynolds Brockhouse, Jaron Sanchez, and the Equality Florida team for creating such a welcoming space. 🩷

And we are especially proud of our Senior Executive Programs Manager, Autumn Franks, who received the 2026 Alok Bold Voices & Lasting Legacies Award! 🏆🏳️‍⚧️

Autumn began with GAP as a volunteer and became our Senior Executive Programs Manager in 2024. She is an exemplary asset to our organization, and we are incredibly grateful for her leadership, dedication, compassion, and heart. We could not be prouder to see her impact recognized with this well-deserved honor. 🩷

Grateful for the conversations, connections, and community. We keep moving forward together. 🏳️‍⚧️🩷

Advocacy works.

Thank you to everyone who raised their voice, shared their story, contacted elected officials, and stood up against the proposed cuts to Florida’s AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the elected officials who listened to their communities and fought to protect access to lifesaving HIV care by supporting these critical protections.

This victory is a reminder that when communities and leaders work together, meaningful change is possible. Today, we celebrate this win—and everyone who helped make it happen. ❤️

Last night, we celebrated a very special moment as our Founder and Executive Director, Ashley Figueroa, was recognized with the District 43 Leadership Award in Advocacy by Florida State Representative Johanna López.

For those of us who know Ashley, this recognition comes as no surprise. Her commitment to serving others, advocating for human rights, expanding opportunities, and uplifting communities is not something she turns on and off—it is who she is every day.

Whether she is helping individuals navigate complex systems, organizing community initiatives, advocating for policy change, or simply showing up for people when they need support, Ashley leads with compassion, determination, and an unwavering belief that every person deserves dignity and opportunity.

We are incredibly proud to see her work recognized and honored. On behalf of the Gender Advancement Project, congratulations, Ashley, on this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for your leadership, your vision, and your tireless dedication to building stronger and more inclusive communities.
