Fellow Sons Leaders,

Please help us spread the word throughout your Detachment by sharing the attached National Photo & Video Contest announcement and submission forms with your District and Squadron leadership.

The SAL National Photo and Video Contests are an excellent opportunity to showcase the outstanding work our members perform every day in support of our Four Pillars and their communities. Memorial Day activities, community service projects, membership events, and other recent programs make great submissions.

I encourage Detachment, District, and Squadron leaders to actively promote these contests and follow up with their squadrons to ensure they are aware of this opportunity.

Submissions must be received by June 30, 2026.

It's Installation Season! Please email your installation schedules to the Detachment Adjutant so he can provide the Detachment Commander a complete list.

If you would like the Detachment Commander at your installation, please send him an invitation by email and cc the Detachment Adjutant.

Hello, Sons!

We have just come back from our 54th Annual Detachment Convention - what a fantastic event it was! A big thank you to all who were able to attend. I'll post some highlights here soon.

Usually, when we come home from Convention, we have the next year's membership cards. That is not the case this year as National did not get the cards printed in time.

The 2027 membership cards will be printed and then mailed to Department Headquarters. After they arrive, our American Legion Department of Florida Membership Director, JoAnn Collins, will have to pack and ship each set of cards to the Squadrons. She will include the 2026-2027 Administrative manual with them. This will take some time.

Please do not contact JoAnn enquiring where the cards are. I will let you all know when they become available.

ALSO: Membership processing for the new year will not be available online until after July 1, when the system is reset. You can take members' dues payment now, but inform them there cards won't be available online until after that point. This also means that you will not be able to print a card for the member, unless they need their 2026 card.

Please be patient as this is a situation that is out of the hands of the Department and Detachment of Florida.

Please note that you can process current year 2026-2027 memberships through December. Additionally, we have until July 29, 2026 to reach 105% membership for this year. Please keep working the 2025-2026 membership renewals and reinstatements.

Today is the first day of Sons of The American Legion Convention 2026.
This afternoon's classes were focused on Training and membership."

Tonight at 6:30 PM there was a Legion family reception, and because of inclement weather it was held on the mezzanine of the hotel.

Finally, TAPS was commemorated at 9 pm.

Tomorrow and Saturday are the full legislative days.

We will gather together to remember her and share in a true celebration of life at the bunker.
