Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and provides an opportunity to reflect and draw inspiration from the many stories that make up our nation’s history. Today, we share the story of the Chambers, a Black Utah pioneer family.

Samuel and Amanda Chambers were enslaved in Mississippi, gained their freedom after the Civil War, and traveled to Utah in 1870. They settled in Millcreek, established a successful farm, became active members of their community and church, and spent more than 50 years helping shape the area they called home.

Today, Chambers Avenue in Millcreek stands as a reminder of their contributions and the important role Black pioneers played in Utah’s history.

Utah, it’s primary election time! If you haven’t turned your ballot in yet, DO NOT MAIL IT: It is not guaranteed to be at your county election office by election day if you do. Instead, take it to a ballot box near you, or vote in person.

Ballots are due by 8pm on THIS Tuesday, June 23rd.

Ballot drop boxes are usually located near city center buildings, but check with your county election office to find your closest one.

Please remind your friends and neighbors to vote and tell them to use the drop box (or vote in person)!

Note: Some areas do NOT have primary this year for one or more parties - check by entering your address on vote.utah.gov. If you are not registered with a party and want to vote in an open primary, you will likely need to vote in person now (because the deadline to request one by mail has passed).

If you are anything like us, the last few weeks have been BUSY. So here's your reminder that the Primary Election in Utah is happening NOW! Ballots are DUE on June 23.
In Utah, many races aren't truly competitive in November - they're often decided in the June primary election. It you want a voice in key outcomes, how you vote in the primary matters.

Please, Take 2 Minutes:
✅ Check if you received a primary ballot in the mail
✅ Familiarize yourself with which races are on your ballot
✅Find the candidate profiles for the races on your ballot at: VOTE.UTAH.GOV
Note: there are a few areas that do not have a primary this year for one or more parties. You can check whether primary races are happening in your area by inputting your address on vote.utah.gov.

You probably thought we would never stop talking about caucus, but the whole reason for caucus education really boils down to convention. The selection of candidates at convention (by the delegates who were selected at caucus) is what largely shapes the landscape of Utah elections. We hope this post offers a little more understanding about this stage of the process. Many county conventions have already happened, while state conventions will be held over the next couple of weeks. Have you ever attended convention? What was your experience like?
