Today is the final day of our Anniversary Match-Up.

Before it comes to a close, we want to recognize the Hearst Family, whose generosity made this campaign possible.

For Erin Hearst — Cirque Lodge alumna and Chairperson of the Cirque Lodge Foundation Board of Directors — this work is deeply personal.

Her words say more than we ever could.

“I chose to live.”

Erin’s story is her own, but the hope within it is something the Hearst Family wants to extend to others: the opportunity to receive meaningful care, do the difficult work of recovery, and discover what may be possible on the other side of it.

Three years ago, Billy was at rock bottom.

No insurance. No job. No resources to afford treatment.

Then someone asked him a question that changed everything:

“Would you be willing to go to Cirque?”

Billy’s first thought was, essentially, How?

Then he learned a scholarship was available.

Three days later, he walked through the doors of Cirque Lodge.

This week, Billy reached out to tell us he is celebrating three years of sobriety.

He wrote: “I am so grateful that there was help there for me when I needed it and will forever be thankful for everyone who made this life I live today possible through kindness and generosity.”

When we first shared Billy’s story, he told us he wanted to become the man his grandmother had always believed he could be.

Three years later, we think she would be very proud.

Billy did the work. He continues to do the work. When he was ready to accept help, the opportunity was there. That is what scholarship funding makes possible.

With just 4 days left in our Anniversary Match-Up, every gift to the Cirque Lodge Foundation is matched dollar for dollar, up to $200,000.

That’s how much treatment scholarship support made possible last year for 42 people through the Cirque Lodge Foundation.

That means more time to stabilize. More time to rebuild trust. More time to learn how to live differently. More time to create a stronger foundation for recovery.

With 10 days left in the Anniversary Match-Up, we’ve raised $85,392 toward Erin Hearst’s $200,000 matching commitment.

That means $170,784 in combined impact is already in motion.

But there is still $114,608 waiting to be unlocked.

More than 52 million Americans needed substance use treatment in 2024. Fewer than 1 in 5 received it.

That gap is not abstract. It is someone’s son. Someone’s daughter. Someone’s parent. Someone’s friend.

Meet Simon McFall, the newest member of the Cirque Lodge Foundation team! Simon recently joined us as Major Gifts Officer, bringing decades of experience and a deeply personal commitment to serving others.

What moved him to join this work? The people.

On August 19th—24 years after the Cirque Lodge Foundation first took root, one of our favorite traditions returns.
