What Is The Oregon Schools Foundation? The Oregon Schools Foundation is a not for profit organization which is a catalyst that brings local businesses and our community together to provide the best in educational opportunities for our children. Through an established endowment fund from donations like yours, the Oregon Schools Foundation provides grants, as well as community resources, to support

programs to enhance the educational experiences in our schools. How Is My Donation Spent? Your donation is never spent, but invested. The interest from this investment fund is used to supply grants to teachers for new and unique learning opportunities, which are not currently supported by our school’s tax based operating budget. These grants are designed to encourage creativity in the classroom, develop more effective methods of instruction, and reward imaginative teaching. Your financial gift will continue to give to our school children for years to come. The Teacher’s Opinions Count! Providing both human resources, through our senior citizen program, and financial resources through our grants, the Oregon Schools Foundation has helped our teachers educate our children. 🔦Flashlight Fridays🔦 - Jerusalem 4th grade

The 4th grade team of Mrs. Chapman, Ms. Linville, Mrs. Sneed, and Mrs. Swangstu wanted to promote independent reading and reading for enjoyment.

💡IDEA - Read by Flashlight

"There is a totally different vibe in class on Flashlight Friday's than when you just announce that we will have 20 minutes of sustained silent reading/read to self time at their desks," stated Mrs. Swangstu.

"The students get excited about Flashlight Friday, and the room stays quiet as they dive into their books. We are always working at increasing literacy skills like comprehension and vocabulary. This activity aids in growing both these areas. It also fosters a love of reading." 📚

"By inviting more students to participate in Flashlight Friday, we are helping grow not only reading skills, but encouraging positive engagement with text and developmental skills in young readers."

Some of the desired outcomes are endurance, confidence, focus and attention, imagination, exploration and stamina. 💪 It also allows students to explore various genres to find their favorite.

We are again honored to be a Charitable Partner, along with many others, doing work in the community that impacts many.

We thank Toledo Refining Company for their gracious invitation to stop in and celebrate their 15th anniversary with PBF Energy.

Their continued work within our community does not go unnoticed. They are always looking for ways to help out our students at Oregon City Schools.

We had a great time listening to the stories of the past, the present and the future by speakers Scott Hayes and Mike Gudgeon.

Icing on the cake was running into my pal, Dolores Glauser CHS '55 and TRC Retiree, and my niece Mandy Lynn with The Toledo Zoo that was helping everyone create their own floral masterpieces.

🎥Cinema Literature Magazine🎥

Meet Ms. DeWitt, teacher in her 2nd year at Clay High School. Her class is a creative literature class called Cinema as Literature, where students interpret movies, take a story line and create persuasive marketing ads for a magazine.

Ms. DeWitt's idea was to actually have a professional magazine printed for her senior students.

This year, her dream for her students came true!

Clay Alum, Dean Davis CHS '96 established the Art Farm Scholarship for Clay High School seniors in recognition of his passion for art and his belief in the powerful impact it can have on a person’s life. 🎨🩰🎬🎭🎼

Through this scholarship opportunity, he hopes to inspire and support a student from Clay High School while encouraging the next generation of young artists to pursue their creativity and talents.

Congratulations to Alei Hernandez as the 2026 Art Farm Scholarship recipient!

The Art Farm Scholarship requirements included an Essay prompt asking "How has Art impacted or been a part of your life? Please be heartfelt and detailed."

This scholarship was not restricted to the Fine Arts, it could be Performing Arts, Culinary Arts, Instrumental Arts, Voice, etc.

Alei's essay response demonstrated her artistic entrepreneurship and creative ingenuity during her time at Clay.

Way to go Alei! We cannot wait to see what your future brings! 🦅

This scholarship was established and funded by employees of Cenovus Energy in memory of their coworker, Derek Besgrove, Clay alum Class of 2000. Derek was an impactful husband, father, brother, son, friend and coworker. He was also an incredible Eagle fan, believing in and supporting all areas of Clay High athletics. He genuinely loved his hometown, and representing Eagle Nation.

Through this scholarship opportunity, they celebrate Derek’s legacy and love for the colors that he wore most often, green and gold.

Scholarship requirements included participation in Clay Athletics (Derek loved all Clay sports), good academic standing and performing community service.

We thank Derek's co-workers, Kirk Fortier and Chris Conley from Cenovus Energy, Toledo Refinery for presenting the scholarship to five deserving students. Sharing in this special moment were audience members, Erin Besgrove, Derek's wife and his parents, Jim and Kathy Besgrove.

What a great night at the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce Prism Awards at the amazing Maumee Bay State Park Lodge and Conference Center!

The night that brings together our community leaders, businesses, non-profits and volunteers for recognition and celebration.

The Oregon Schools Foundation was honored to receive the 35 Year Milestone Award.

Established in 1991, OSF has proudly served Oregon City Schools for nearly four decades. What began as a simple but powerful mission, providing classroom grants to support teachers and students, has grown into a community driven organization dedicated to expanding opportunities across our district.

Not only do we continue the original Founder's Grant program, but over the past fifteen years, our impact has grown exponentially thanks to the generosity, trust, and partnership of this incredible community.

Together with our amazing OSF team, we’ve expanded classroom grant opportunities from $2,000 a year to $100,000 in 2025. We've helped support transformative projects throughout the district, including the Charles Neal Press Box, Visitor Press Box, Carol-Ann Molnar Performing Arts Studio and the Dean Davis exterior mural at Clay High School.

We've also grown the foundation’s endowment from $131,000 to hitting our investment MILESTONE of $1 million just 2 week ago!

Each milestone represents far more than growth, it reflects a community that believes deeply in its schools, its students and its future.

I am honored to lead such an amazing group of people, and through my work with OSF, I have truly found my passion work.

Capping off an already unforgettable evening, I was incredibly humbled and surprised to be named 🏆PERSON OF THE YEAR🏆.

What an incredible HONOR! It surely takes a village, and I am so proud to just be a small part of the bigger team that makes this community a great place to be. 😀

This recognition also belongs to the many local businesses, partners, volunteers, educators, leaders and supporters who continuously work every day to make our schools and community stronger together.

I am so proud to work in a community that shows up for kids EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
