🎥 OSF Grant Highlight 🎥

✂️ Cardboard Cutters at Eisenhower ✂️

✋🤚 Mr. Haar was looking for a way to bridge the hands-on learning gap with tools between the 5-6th graders STEM class students at Eisenhower, to the STEM class at Fassett Jr. High. ⚙️🔨🔧🪚🪛🧰

The Chomp Saw is essentially a table saw for cardboard in a safe way. Engineered with kid safety in mind, this tool helps revolutionize the way kids can work with cardboard. Through the use of the Chomp Saw, students will have a safe, reliable, and feasible way to make precision cutting to develop more intricate projects. This is a safe and smooth transition to using power tools in later grades.

👉Mr. Haar states that this tool is a perfect segue from elementary school to junior high school. Students will have a safe way to make projects more meaningful and allow greater creativity.

🧒👦Meet Mia and Emmett who share why they love to work with the CHOMP SAW in their STEM class.

With the OSF Grant, Mr. Haar was able to purchase several saws for use in his classroom for project creation and developing skills with tools.

What happens when you put real tools, real engines, and hands-on learning together? OPPORTUNITY!

New Video Release ➡️ Highlighting the PBF Energy TRC Grant – Small Engine Repair session in the STEM class at Fassett Junior High School!

Through this Grant, students are gaining valuable hands-on experience learning how small engines work, troubleshooting problems, making repairs, and developing skills they can carry into the classroom, the workplace, and beyond.

We’re proud to support opportunities that turn curiosity into real-world skills and confidence.

🔦Flashlight Fridays🔦 - Jerusalem 4th grade

The 4th grade team of Mrs. Chapman, Ms. Linville, Mrs. Sneed, and Mrs. Swangstu wanted to promote independent reading and reading for enjoyment.

💡IDEA - Read by Flashlight

"There is a totally different vibe in class on Flashlight Friday's than when you just announce that we will have 20 minutes of sustained silent reading/read to self time at their desks," stated Mrs. Swangstu.

"The students get excited about Flashlight Friday, and the room stays quiet as they dive into their books. We are always working at increasing literacy skills like comprehension and vocabulary. This activity aids in growing both these areas. It also fosters a love of reading." 📚

"By inviting more students to participate in Flashlight Friday, we are helping grow not only reading skills, but encouraging positive engagement with text and developmental skills in young readers."

Some of the desired outcomes are endurance, confidence, focus and attention, imagination, exploration and stamina. 💪 It also allows students to explore various genres to find their favorite.

Good morning from Toledo Country Club where Toledo Refining Company held their Charity golf outing today. ⛳️ 🏌️‍♀️ ⛳️

We are again honored to be a Charitable Partner, along with many others, doing work in the community that impacts many.

Thank you TRC for being a community partner that supports education for kids! ✏️ 📝 🖍

As a result if this event, OSF will be able to offer PBF Energy Grants to our teachers and staff at Oregon City Schools for opportunities that inspire and enrich our students. 💚💛💚

We thank Toledo Refining Company for their gracious invitation to stop in and celebrate their 15th anniversary with PBF Energy.

Their continued work within our community does not go unnoticed. They are always looking for ways to help out our students at Oregon City Schools.

We had a great time listening to the stories of the past, the present and the future by speakers Scott Hayes and Mike Gudgeon.

Icing on the cake was running into my pal, Dolores Glauser CHS '55 and TRC Retiree, and my niece Mandy Lynn with The Toledo Zoo that was helping everyone create their own floral masterpieces.

🎥Cinema Literature Magazine🎥

Meet Ms. DeWitt, teacher in her 2nd year at Clay High School. Her class is a creative literature class called Cinema as Literature, where students interpret movies, take a story line and create persuasive marketing ads for a magazine.

Ms. DeWitt's idea was to actually have a professional magazine printed for her senior students.

This year, her dream for her students came true!
