It is our privilege to recognize real-life heroes in our community. Yesterday, we honored Lt. John Taylor of Clay County Fire Rescue, Clay County Firefighter of the Year. Thank you Chief Mock for telling his story.

Today at Orange Park Rotary, we celebrated Clay County Fire Rescue’s Firefighter of the Year, Lieutenant John Taylor. Chief Mock shared the remarkable events that led to Lt. Taylor receiving this well-deserved award. Congratulations, Lt. Taylor, and thank you for your 20 years of dedicated service to our community!

We also learned that falls are one of the top reasons Clay County Fire Rescue receives calls for assistance—and that medication errors or mismanagement can often contribute to those falls.

They reminded everyone to:

🔥 Maintain working smoke detectors
🔥 Check them regularly
🔥 Know your escape route in the event of a home fire

We encourage you to take a moment and ask: When was the last time you checked the smoke detectors in your own home—or in the home of your aging loved one?

Congrats Rotarian Carolyn Krall!

Congratulations to our President/CEO, Carolyn Krall, who will serve on the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations board again for 2026-2027. For more than 25 years, the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations has worked alongside local education foundations to support students, teachers, and schools across Florida. The Consortium also administers the School District Education Foundation Matching Grant Program, the nation’s only 1-to-1 match for K-12 initiatives led by local education foundations, helping private donations go further in classrooms and communities.

Today we celebrated Rotarian Ed Sellers who has been serving our community and Rotaty for 50 years!
Our speaker, fellow Rotarian Dr. Bob Brown of , helped us understand the impact of the FL sun.
We returned to a celebratory mood when Doug Fuzzell, Your Family Realtor won the 50/50 pot of over $1900 and promptly donated half of his winnings back to the Rotary Foundation. It was truly a service above self day!

We were honored to have Jennifer Bradley speak to a full house at Tuesday’s meeting. Members got to hear the good news from Tallahassee and had some face time with our favorite senator! Thank you Senator Jennifer Bradley.
