The Friends of the Olean Public Library’s extended used book sale continues until further notice, with new items added regularly!

Shoppers will find three full shelves of children’s books, a newly added cart of DVDs, adult audiobooks, Blu-rays, VHS tapes, CDs, and a great selection of fiction and nonfiction books for all ages.

For just $5, purchase a reusable blue bag and fill it with as many treasures as you can fit. All proceeds support the Friends of the Olean Public Library and help enhance library programs, services, and resources for our community.

Please note: With the Summer Carnival kicking off today at noon, the library driveway is closed, and there is currently an issue with the front door. However, the library is open and welcoming visitors.

The Friends of the Olean Library continue to see strong community interest as their extended large used book sale remains open until further notice, offering an ever-growing selection of materials for local shoppers.

In addition to shelves filled with 3 full shelves of children’s books, organizers report that an entire cart of DVDs and other non-book items like adult audiobooks has been added to the sale. The expanded collection includes fiction and nonfiction titles, family-friendly films, Blu-rays, VHS tapes, and music CDs, ensuring a wide range of options for readers and collectors of all ages.

Volunteers are actively sorting and restocking materials to keep the sale fresh and accessible throughout its run. The steady influx of items highlights ongoing support and the continued success of the fundraising effort.

The sale is being held at the Olean Public Library, at 134 North 2nd Street, where shoppers can purchase a reusable blue grocery bag for $5 and fill it with as many items as they can fit. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Olean Library, supporting library programs, services, and resources that directly serve the community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Friends of the Olean Library Annual Open Meeting. We enjoyed a wonderful evening of fellowship, conversation, and connection while reflecting on the impact our library has on the community.

A special thank you to Fairway View Pavilion for the excellent food and outstanding service. We are grateful for their hospitality and for everyone who continues to support the library and the Friends.

This evening, we gathered as the Friends Board to share committee updates, leadership reports, and, most importantly, enjoy the fellowship and camaraderie that make our organization so special.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Fairway Pavilion at the St. Bonaventure Golf Course for providing a beautiful setting for our meeting.

We would also like to thank our longtime leader of 17 years, Cookie, for joining us this evening. It is always a pleasure to see her, hear her insights, and reflect on the strong foundation she helped build as we continue moving forward with another exciting year on the Friends of the Library calendar.

We are also thrilled to invite the community to our Read Between the Wines event, now scheduled for August 14! Join us as we celebrate our library while enjoying an evening of delicious wines, great company, and community spirit.

More details will be announced soon. We look forward to sharing this special event with you!

🍷 Help Us Connect with Great Wineries! 📚

The Friends of the Olean Library are preparing for our annual Read Between the Wines fundraiser this August, and we're looking for winery partners.

Do you have a favorite winery? Know someone who works at one? We'd love an introduction!

We're seeking wineries interested in:
• Donating wine.
• Setting up a tasting at the event.
• Sponsoring the event.
• Providing raffle or auction items.

Every partnership helps support programs, services, and resources at the Olean Public Library.
