Village of HOPE INC Village of Hope is a village within a village. The VOH is a sanctuary for support, education and equipping to break the cycle of poverty and abuse.

This primary school, rescue center for girls who have experienced abuse, vocational training center, and medical care facility will give hope to children, women, and those with a desire to create change. The Village of Hope is an innovative educational and vocational training center for the children in Gwassi Village. Although we provide services to children of all ages, our emphasis is assisting young girls in danger of sexual and physical abuse.

Village of Hope is so much more than just what’s inside our fenced border.

Last week we had the opportunity to bless our local moms and grandmas who sell items, until well after dark, at a local market that just neighbors us. These hardworking mamas inspire us everyday with the way they sacrifice and provide for their families, many whom have children or grandchildren who attend VOH.

We are so grateful to be a part of this community and to be able to serve them in any way we can.

We are a few weeks into our second term here at VOH and things are moving like a well oiled machine! All our school staff are hopeful and expectant of a smooth and successful term!

This is what happens when we have visitors return - they become family and pour their skills, time, and energy into our students. Creating an enrichment camp during the school holiday, this small but mighty team from NY taught pickleball, sewing, and team building activities. We are so thankful!! Stay tuned…part 2 to come!

Today we had our annual safety officer visit and he did a fire extinguisher training session with some of our staff. We are dedicated in providing the safest environment we can for our students and staff, including preparedness! It was a good lesson for all!

We have been fundraising the last few weeks for our solar project and we have made great progress! Work has begun with the donations that we have received so far. We are hoping by the new year we will be up and running with solar power, helping us to light up the vision and passion we have here at VOH for our students and the surrounding community.

Giving Tuesday has always been a day where we are able highlight a need and current project and we are super excited about this one. It will be a tremendous blessing to have this completed. We can’t thank you enough for your support thus far and we boldly ask for your help to get over the finish line!

In the last month, you may have seen some posts about VOH going solar! We are excited to not have to rely on Kenya power and use the abundance of sun we have here on the Equator.

Last week we welcomed visitors from Glocksee School in Germany. They have been huge supporters and partners with us thus far and we are so excited that they have been able to come and spend some time here with us! It has been a time full of mentorship, teaching, games, laughter, home visits, and lives being touched. We are happy to be having them for another week!
