It’s that time of year when we gather at the Sound of Music for our Oktoberfest celebration. Join us at noon on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

We’d love it if you signed-up in advance at the reduced rate of $20 to help us plan supplies for the event. Onsite tickets are $25 (cash). Your ticket includes Panizzera brats and chicken sausages, served with salad and an abundance of b**r and non-alcoholic beverages.

Oktoberfest is a member only event, but it’s easy to join the club.

CAL FIRE crews will be thinning vegetation and building burn piles at Monte Rio Redwoods Expansion starting Monday, 8/24. They will be working along the main ridgeline, starting in the north and working their way south using an excavator with a masticating attachment. Visitors to the Park will see and hear large equipment working in the forest as well as chainsaws.

This work will continue through the fall and winter months as weather allows. The piles that are created will be left to cure and dry out over the fall months and will be burned in the winter after sufficient rain has fallen. This is a continuation of our work to reduce hazardous fuels within the park and manage the forest to be more resilient to future wildfires.

There will be no trail closures at the moment, however, we will need to close sections of trails during the course of this work, and I will send out additional alerts when we needed. Signs will be placed along sections of trail that are closed.

This past weekend the Gianni Trail Crew completed their first Adopt a Road trail day event. This included trash pickup from Coleman Valley to the gate on Willow Creek Road, and hazard fuel load management at several locations along Willow Creek Road (non-native invasive broom removal) with the help of a neighbor and his tractor.

Join us this Sunday to show some love to our local roads! As part of Gianni's participation in the Sonoma County Roadside Clean Up Program, we are hosting our first official roadside clean-up day for our adopted section of Willow Creek Road.

Aspen Revallo's podium moment 🏆

Some inspiring and amazing news from Gianni member Dana Revallo.

His daughter Aspen took first 🥇 place in the short track cross county race at the National Championships in Ranoke, VA! What an amazing way to represent women's cycling and Occidental!

She went out strong and lead the race the entire time. Also, on Friday she took 2nd place in the XCO, she was on 1st place’s wheel the entire time, it came down to a sprint finish and she took 2nd.

Watch out for Aspen on our local trails and (if you can catch up to her) congratulate her on the win 🏆

🌞🚲🌮🍻 Summer Solstice is coming! 🌞🚲🌮🍻

In preparation for a wonderful celebration the trail crew have been out cutting back the tall grass at the Sound of Music. There's no better time to become a Gianni member and join the party!

If you're already a member, register for the celebration by June 17. Bring up to 2 guests, especially if they might become new members and help fund making these trails even more awesome 😉

Okay real talk — trail volunteer numbers have been low and the Gateway Trail deserves better than that. 😅

We’re in the FINAL phase of connecting Willow Creek to Fern Springs in Monte Rio Redwoods and we need bodies.
