David Hirsch was an inspiration to all who grow wine on the West Sonoma Coast. Pioneer, mentor, philosopher, David wore many hats, even before a stunningly beautiful piece of land on the edge of the Pacific Ocean pierced his heart. Hirsch Vineyards became his lifelong passion. Anyone fortunate enough to visit and talk with David, received a masterclass in the inseparable bond between humans and Nature and our urgent task to nurture and support that bond.
David loved to farm. For some Forty-Seven years he was supported by Everardo Robledo, the Hirsch Vineyard manager who continues to this day. With time he determined that to truly express the land, Hirsch Vineyard needed to produce its own wine. With the support of his beloved wife Marie and his daughter Jasmine, an estate winery was founded. The wonderful wines which Jasmine produces today are a direct result of the passion and dedication which she learned and shared with David. The best is yet to come.
The members of the West Sonoma Coast Vintners send our deepest condolences to Marie, Jasmine and the entire Hirsch family. David’s contribution to our region is immeasurable.
