We're celebrating a big win for the ServiceSource CARE (Community Access to Resources and Engagement) Mobile program!

Last week, we were honored to accept the Best Practices Award from the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services' Commonwealth Council on Aging. The award recognizes our commitment to fostering health, wellness, and social connections for older adults, including those with disabilities.

We marked the occasion with an award presentation and ice cream social with residents of Coppermine Place Apartments, Virginia State Senator Jennifer B. Boysko, and community partners from Northern Virginia Resource Center, Insight Memory Care Center, Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter, the Shepherd’s Center of Fairfax-Burke, the SHAPE Mobile Subcommittee, and the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging’s Caregiver & Support Services Unit.

Thank you to our partners for helping make this work possible.

Young adults from our Building Employment Solutions Together (B.E.S.T.) program visited Cafe Monet , located within the McLean Project for the Arts Berlage Arts & Education Center, to learn about the unique partnership between the café and adjoining art museum.

The group toured the gallery, learned about the artists featured in the space, and got a behind-the-scenes look at café operations, including customer service, food preparation, and other employment roles. It was a great opportunity to explore how local organizations can come together to create engaging community spaces.

Thank you to Café Monet and the McLean Project for the Arts for welcoming us!

When Byron Figueroa joined ServiceSource's food services team at the FBI Academy in December 2025, he began building the skills and experience to grow his career in food service.‌

Less than a year later, he's earned his Restaurant Ready Certification, participated in our Employee Development Program, and enrolled in our new Kitchen Manager Apprenticeship Program.‌

Developed in partnership with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) and the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA), the apprenticeship combines paid, hands-on learning with structured instruction to prepare participants for careers in food service management.‌

Congratulations, Byron! We're excited to support your continued growth and see where this journey leads.

Employees from our Delaware affiliate, Opportunity Center Inc. (OCI), recently presented appreciation wristbands to the soldiers they work alongside each day at the Fort Indiantown Gap National Guard Training Center in Pennsylvania. What started as a simple act of appreciation became an opportunity to build confidence, practice communication skills, and engage with others in new ways. Each interaction added another link to a growing paper chain, creating a visual reminder of the connections made throughout the initiative.

"It was incredible to watch team members who were initially hesitant grow more confident with each interaction and to see the impact a little encouragement can make," said OCI Assistant Operations Manager Cindy McCrary.
