NVFS believes in enabling all families and individuals to reach their full potential, and that with the right tools, we can build well-being for everyone in Northern Virginia. Throughout its history, NVFS has been recognized as an innovator of efficient and comprehensive service methods, while effectively creating sustained financial and social independence for local families. NVFS helps more than 34,000 individuals and their families each year find housing and emergency services; health and mental health services; early childhood education and child placement services; intervention and prevention programs; job training; and legal services.

NVFS is one of 34 Virginia nonprofits to receive a 2026 grant from the VLF. This grant supports the work of the Alexandria/Arlington CASA Program, helping ensure children in the child welfare system have a consistent, caring adult advocating for their best interests.

As longtime supporters of Northern Virginia Family Services, the Andinos use a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) as one way to turn their charitable goals into meaningful support for their neighbors.
