Jeb Bishop is considered one of the preeminent trombonists in contemporary jazz and improvised music. He has played in Peter Brötzmann’s Chicago Tentet, Ken Vandermark’s Territory Band and Vandermark Five, and Globe Unity Orchestra, and has led or co-led projects including the Jeb Bishop Trio, Quartet, and Quintet, Lucky 7s, The Engines, and Cutout.

The Chicago Sun-Times has called him “one of the best-kept secrets in American jazz,” and he has frequently been recognized in critics’ polls, including in Downbeat Magazine and the online journal El Intruso.

Originally from North Carolina, Bishop first emerged as a musician working in the fertile Chicago scene in the 1990s and 2000s. From 2012-2022, he was based first in North Carolina and later in Boston. In 2022 he returned to Chicago, where he continues to be active locally and internationally.

Tom Lowery is a percussionist based in Chicago whose musical explorations are informed by jazz and improvised traditions. He has traveled the country playing music in a wide range of genres, and now focuses on improvised collaborations and his standards trio. In 2026, Tom released his solo percussion album, “Music Next Door, Someplace Else”.

Matthew Lux (b. Chicago, Illinois, USA, April 14, 1973) is a bassist who is internationally renowned for his work across a range of genres including jazz, experimental, electronic, rock, and R&B. Lux’s career is defined by his staunch belief that no style of music is more or less serious than any other. A founding member of the group Isotope 217 and student of W.A.

Lundberg’s exploratory compositional practice focuses on textures, melody, movement, and infrastructure — infrastructures of performance and of the wider world. By inviting ever-shifting ensembles of players to respond live to scores and prompts, Ro creates a chamber music curious about the possibility of commoning in concert. At Compound Yellow, Lundberg’s ad hoc ensemble will explorenew work — seeking common cause to consider the possibilities of possibling together. Joining Lundberg will be a dream crew of Chicago creative soundmakers: Will Greene, Robbie Hunsinger, Caroline Jesalva, and Tyler Wagner.
