What a night! đź’ś

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Monday, May 11, for Ndajee 2026: From Education to Climate Action—Girls Leading Change at The Dalcy in Chicago’s West Loop.

Together, we have raised over $312,000 toward our $350,000 goal — and we are so close!

The evening was filled with community, celebration, and a shared commitment to girls’ education, including an Impact Award celebration honoring Julie Moller, a powerful keynote from Craig Davidson of Rick Steves’ Europe, West African drumming and dancing by Victoria Djembe Academy, a silent auction, paddle raise, dancing, and desserts.

A special shoutout to our wonderful emcee, Alex Mbuthia, for leading the evening with warmth, energy, and heart!

We were also proud to debut our new video highlighting WGEP’s work in Senegal, where girls and women are leading climate action through education, leadership, and locally driven solutions.

🎉 Ndajee 2026 is less than one month away! 🎉

Ndajee 2026 is just around the corner, and we’re excited to share a special announcement—our Keynote Speaker: Craig Davidson of the Rick Steves' Europe Climate Smart Initiative! 🌍

Craig is a mission-driven leader who believes business can be a force for good, leading efforts that invest in climate solutions, community impact, and a more just world. Since 2022, the Rick Steves Climate Smart Initiative has supported WGEP’s girls’ leadership and climate-smart programming in Senegal—empowering young leaders already creating change in their communities.

This year, Ndajee highlights the powerful connection between girls’ education and climate action. When girls are educated and equipped with leadership skills, they don’t just face global challenges—they lead the solutions.

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we’re celebrating and honoring the next generation of leaders already shaping a more just, sustainable future. 💫🌍

Through Our Sisters Lead, girls in Senegal are turning education into action—sparking conversations, challenging inequality, and leading change on issues like gender equality, early marriage, and climate action in their schools and communities.

These young women aren’t just dreaming of a better world—they’re building it 💜 With the skills, confidence, and support to lead, they are transforming not only their own lives, but the future of their communities and our planet. When girls lead, change follows—and investing in their education creates lasting impact for all.

Happy International Women’s Day! Meet some of our inspiring program leaders and scholars from Enkishon Sidai Africa and WGEP Senegal. They share their hopes for the future and advice for younger women pursuing their goals. 💜

Josephine Malipe is a staff member at Enkishon Sidai Africa and a passionate advocate for the rights and empowerment of girls and young women. She works to help girls overcome harmful cultural norms, stay in school, and grow into confident leaders who can transform their communities. Josephine continues to strengthen her leadership, advocacy, and community mobilization skills while deepening her knowledge of gender-responsive policies and safeguarding practices. One of her proudest moments is seeing girls who once felt silenced regain their confidence and speak boldly about their rights.

Brilliant Naikuni is a scholarship beneficiary of Enkishon Sidai Africa studying Social Work and Community Development. Inspired by the challenges girls in her community face, she is passionate about advocating for girls’ rights and supporting vulnerable children. She hopes to develop skills in counseling and community advocacy to create safe spaces and opportunities for girls in marginalized communities. Being selected for the scholarship and continuing her education is one of her proudest achievements.

Madeline Sene is pursuing her dream of becoming a Spanish teacher and preparing for the competitive exam required for the profession. She is especially proud of her internship at a private Catholic school in Sokone, where she discovered confidence in the classroom and deepened her passion for education. Madeline encourages young women to stay focused, remain strong, and keep fighting for their independence and dreams.

Safiatou Diouf hopes to earn her Baccalaureate with honors and pursue studies abroad. Passionate about science, she dreams of studying medicine or joining the Air Force. Despite losing her father during her studies, she remained determined and excelled academically. Safiatou encourages girls to stay resilient and never give up on their dreams. đź’ś

Partner Highlight: Tharaka Women’s Welfare Programme, Digital Care Week 💻✨

Last month, February 9–13, our incredible partners at Tharaka Women's Welfare Program hosted Digital Care Week at Tharaka University 💻🌍

Throughout the week, dedicated volunteers built community and expanded access to digital knowledge by:

✨ Strengthening digital literacy skills

🛠️ Improving computer performance and device functionality

🤝 Creating an open, welcoming space for anyone eager to learn or bring a device for support

By equipping girls and community members with the skills to care for and optimize their own technology, they did more than fix devices — they invested in long-term educational opportunity, confidence, and independence. Every device restored, and every skill shared, helped bridge the digital divide and create sustainable resources for the future.
We’re proud to support initiatives that empower communities through knowledge, connection, and care! 💜
