The annual Oak Island Memorial Day Observance, a joint effort with VFW Post #10226 Oak Island, NC , Oak Island Elks Lodge No. 2769 , American Legion Post 454 and Auxiliary-Oak Island, NC, and Cape Fear Blue Star Mothers of America NC16, was held Monday morning at the VFW post with more than 200 people in attendance to honor military personnel who died in the line of duty.

Friday, May 22, is National Poppy Day! Although this flower is small, it is powerful! The poppy serves as a symbol of sacrifice to honor the fallen and support the living. 🇺🇸 Wear a red poppy on National Poppy Day to show appreciation and respect for all who have served and sacrificed in the U.S. Armed Forces.
