Cleansing your timeline, and our souls, with a Big ginger purr πŸ₯°
There's scientific studies that prove a cats purr alleviates anxiety. Norman wasn't part of that study. Neither were we. But we can Absolutely vouch for the truth of it.
Norman deserves an amazing home. Maybe you're that lucky human?

For the second time in a month our little rescue has taken in a young pregnant cat who ended up going through immense, unnecessary, trauma.

Dot showed up at one of our founders front porch last weekend.
That's the first photo.
Very young, maybe 8-10 months old.
Definitely pregnant.
We made her comfortable and started to make plans to address the circumstances.
Then, Friday evening, her body had other plans. Out popped a Very tiny baby, clearly not "fully baked".
That's the second photo.
Dot was confused. Baby was too small. And worse, no more were coming. So we rushed to the ER, where it was confirmed there were other babies with strong heartbeats, but all we could do was wait. Baby would be bottle fed, mom would be stabilized.
The next day, no more babies. So we called in to our personal cats vet, who graciously rushed in on their day off to perform an emergency c section and spay, and try to save the remaining babies.
That is the third photo.
The original baby from the prior night is on the left, the smallest. Not shown is the baby born with such deformations we made the kindest choice and said goodbye immediately.
30 minutes after that photo, the other 3 passed as well. Their tiny bodies just not formed enough to survive, and fighting some sort of infection.
Mom is fighting an infection too.

So now, a single baby, the first born, is with a wonderful human who has an incubator and is able to hand feed.
Mom is recovering but very weak with a separate foster.
All are exhausted and traumatized.
And the bank accounts are Significantly depleted.

So we're going to say it again, louder.
SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS.
AND KEEP THEM INSIDE.
No they do not want to be parents.
No it's not a right of passage.
No it's not necessary, at all.
But it is extremely dangerous. And selfish.
If you're going to take on being responsible for an animals life, Be Responsible.

This is what is called a kitten puddle.
Is it adorable? Absolutely yes 😻
Is it also slightly terrifying? Also yes.
Because it means we're overrun with kittens again. And we need fosters!!

Got a spare room you don't use much? A bathroom you don't mind sharing?
Send us an email! We have mom's & babies, and babies without mom's, that need a place to go Urgently 😬

Visit our website www.passportanimalrescue.org or send us an email at [email protected] for more info.

The hardest thing in rescue is getting people to help.
We're a small organization, run by fosters who take in cats and volunteers who take care of cats at our two Petco locations.
Without this, we cannot operate.
Right now we're in need of help!
Specifically on Wednesdays at either the Halethorpe or Whitemarsh Petco locations.

You must be over 18, or have a legal guardian with you at all times. Shifts take about an hour and are recurring weekly (ie - Wednesday evening each week).

If you can help, email us at [email protected]

"Oh! You're back again? What's the excuse this time??"

Anyone else have to deal with setting up a new phone lately? So many deep sighs. Especially since everything for the rescues social media is run via Meta apps that only really want to work on a phone vs a laptop.
Know what we'd rather be doing? Snuggling with our cats!
We're willing to bet you'd rather be snuggling with a cat instead... Well...pretty much anything else πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜»

If you're missing a snuggly feline friend in your life, head to our website and put in an app. Fiesta Potato here would love to have a new best friend, instead of listening to us complain about technology 😹

Life is better with a best friend.
Even a goofy, camera hogging, wake you up to play with fake mice, zero personal space kind of best friend πŸ’–

Keanu & Sandra are such best friends, their adoption fee is sponsored, so they can stay best friends forever (no worries, we'd keep them together regardless!).

So double the love in your life and bring these two adorable tabby tigers into home 🐾😻

Yesterday was discharge day for JJ πŸ’–πŸŽ‰
Diacharged from what, you may ask?

Well, on Monday, the day after Mother's Day, this sweet girl started showing signs of real problems. Namely she attempted to birth a stillborn kitten. Thank Goodness her foster (our Co-founder) was off that day and she was immediately taken to the vet.

There were no kittens on xray, but her white blood count was over 30k. The decision was made to do an explore + spay. She had a fully infected uterus. When she got her pre-surgery meds, she vomited like a horror movie. After they removed her uterus and poked it, puss just poured out. She would have most likely been dead by the morning. She is stayed overnight for iv fluids and iv antibiotics, and what you see in this photo is a Very lucky kitty who will have a long healthy life thanks to some wonderful humans.

But to the absolutely Not wonderful people who left this super sweet cat unspayed, let her outside (or had unneutered males with her), and abandoned her when she got pregnant.... You are the worst. Treating animals, and mothers, as disposable is inexcusable.
JJ would have died because of an entire series of choices you made for her.
People can, and must, do so much better.

On that note, we're so thankful to our co-founder who's fostering, her daughter who transported and provided care, and Dr Elwood at Summit Bridge for being the heroes today!
