Yesterday was discharge day for JJ ππ
Diacharged from what, you may ask?
Well, on Monday, the day after Mother's Day, this sweet girl started showing signs of real problems. Namely she attempted to birth a stillborn kitten. Thank Goodness her foster (our Co-founder) was off that day and she was immediately taken to the vet.
There were no kittens on xray, but her white blood count was over 30k. The decision was made to do an explore + spay. She had a fully infected uterus. When she got her pre-surgery meds, she vomited like a horror movie. After they removed her uterus and poked it, puss just poured out. She would have most likely been dead by the morning. She is stayed overnight for iv fluids and iv antibiotics, and what you see in this photo is a Very lucky kitty who will have a long healthy life thanks to some wonderful humans.
But to the absolutely Not wonderful people who left this super sweet cat unspayed, let her outside (or had unneutered males with her), and abandoned her when she got pregnant.... You are the worst. Treating animals, and mothers, as disposable is inexcusable.
JJ would have died because of an entire series of choices you made for her.
People can, and must, do so much better.
On that note, we're so thankful to our co-founder who's fostering, her daughter who transported and provided care, and Dr Elwood at Summit Bridge for being the heroes today!
