For over 80 New Trier seniors, Senior Project is more than a final assignment, it’s an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and into the community.

Each year students have an opportunity to connect to partners in and beyond our community around projects of their own design to explore their passions and career interests. Through internships, service experiments, and hands-on learning, students spend their final four weeks of high school exploring passions, building skills, and exploring what is possible for them beyond graduation. Through experiencing the professional side of their interests firsthand, students report the skills and opportunities that emerge during their project lead to new outlooks for their future.

Thank you to all of our mentors and community sponsors who help make these transformative experiences possible each year.

Welcome to Part 2 of the AP Art Festival! 🎨

A cool part of New Trier’s art program is the “pantry”- a hallway full of materials students can roam through while working on projects. Having access to so many different supplies allows students to experiment, try new techniques, and push their creativity beyond the standard classroom materials.

The district funds the core supplies used across the art curriculum, while the Foundation helps provide the extra materials and special project resources that allow students to explore even bigger creative ideas.

We’re thrilled to share that the Piano Legacy Campaign was a tremendous success! Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, the Fazioli F278 Concert Grand Piano has been fully purchased for New Trier - 100% through donations.

This exceptional instrument will serve thousands of students across New Trier’s Music & Theatre programs. The Fazioli represents the highest level of artistry and quality, and its impact on students’ musical experiences will be felt for decades ahead.

THe success of this campaign reflects the incredible support for the arts within the New Trier community. In just one school year, families, alumni, and supporters came together with a shared vision to create an investment in creativity, excellence, and student growth.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this investment in our students possible.

Last week New Trier hosted its 47th annual AP Art Festival at the Winnetka campus. This festival is a great reminder of what students can create when they have the space and supplies readily available so they can explore their ideas deeply.

The students envision, the art evolves, and having these resources on hand gives students the freedom to explore styles and ideas they may have never tried otherwise.

Huge thank you to the New Trier Educational foundation for helping provide so many of the materials that make experiences like AP Art Fest possible.

The gala in March was such a hit, and the details made it all the more special.

Thanks to our talented Glass Arts student, each table came to life with handcrafted vases and thoughtfully paired flowers. Every arrangement was designed with intention by our partner Morning Glory Flower Shop, bringing color and creativity to the evening. Their work truly added a beautiful, personal touch to the celebration.

Thanks again Morning Glory!

Thanks to a grant from the New Trier Educational Foundation, we were delighted to welcome Randy Ribay on campus for a day with our English teachers! An award-winning author of young adult fiction, Randy led a workshop focused on the writing process.

Teachers participated in free writing, shared their work in small groups, and challenged one another through thoughtful feedback and collaboration. The session created space for reflection, creativity and meaningful conversation that they can bring back into their own classrooms and pass on to students.

So many of our teachers create the innovative, inspiring experiences that make New Trier so special. From hands-on projects to creative classroom ideas, their passion shapes the way students learn every day. Many of these opportunities are made possible through Foundation grants that teachers apply for to enhance their classrooms and bring new ideas to life.

As this series continues, we’re celebrating the incredible educators who make a lasting impact on our students and school community every day.

Ever wonder what it’s like to design a GoBabyGo vehicle from start to finish? Hear directly from our students as they share their design process and the impact it had on them and our community.

GoBabyGo returned to New Trier for another meaningful year! Now in its 5th year, this project connects Applied Arts students from both campuses with children who have mobility impairments. Students design and build custom electric vehicles tailored to each child’s unique needs using human-centered design. Support from the New Trier Educational Foundation helped fund the vehicles and materials that make this hands-on experience possible. It gives the students the opportunity to apply their skills in ways that truly change lives.

Thank you to our dedicated students and staff, along with community partners including GoBabyGo, Spina Bifida Illinois, and Sunrise Medical, for making this incredible program possible year after year!
