Come see us this Saturday from 10-12 at the Bedford Hills train station/TIOLI shed.

We still have a great selection of native tree and shrub saplings still available for fall planting, which is one of the best times of year to get woody plants established.

Available species include sumac, p***y willow, oaks, ninebark, winterberry, cottonwood, redbud, maples, and more.

We will be there to take your plant donations AND you can take home something new for your garden. Add a few native trees or shrubs to your landscape while the fall planting window is just getting started.

A little something special for tomorrow’s plant swap: Kalm’s lobelia (Lobelia kalmii)

We grew these from seed, and we’ll have a limited number available tomorrow.

Kalm’s lobelia is a small, delicate native with pale blue-violet flowers that naturally grows in moist, open places. It’s a beautiful choice for rain gardens, pond edges, wet meadows, or that damp spot in the garden where other plants never seem quite happy.

It’s also the kind of native you don’t often stumble across at a garden center, which makes us especially happy to be able to share it.

Come find one tomorrow, along with plenty of other native plants looking for new homes.

Your August garden doesn’t need a cleanup!

By late summer, native gardens can start to look a little less polished. Plants lean. Leaves get chewed. Flowers fade. And perhaps most importantly, seeds begin to form.

Take a closer look at those seed heads. They’re food for wildlife, next year’s plants, and an opportunity to share the native plants already thriving in your garden.

Wild Ones Lower Hudson Valley and Healthy Yards are teaming up for our annual Native Seed Swap on October 24th at the Bedford Hills Community Center.

Now is the perfect time to start watching your native plants and collecting seeds as they ripen. Bring what you have, swap with fellow native plant gardeners, and go home with new species to grow and share.

Two ways to grow your native garden this weekend!

Join us Saturday from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Bedford Hills train station, parking lot 8 next to the TIOLI shed for our weekly native plant swap. Bring native plants to share, or stop by to see what is available. Donations are encouraged and welcome.

Then on Sunday, August 9 from 2–4 p.m., learn how to identify, collect and save native plant seeds at our free Seed Collecting Workshop presented with Healthy Yards as part of the Westchester Pollinators Open Gardens 2026.

Looking to make your garden a pollinator haven? Come by the Bedford Hills train station next to the TIOLI shed in parking lot 8. We’ll be there from 10-12 with a selection of native perennials, trees and shrubs. Bog goldenrod, Bottle gentian or yellow star grass, anyone? We’ll have those species and more. We had an incredibly generous donation at yesterday’s Plant Swap and now have a wonderful selection of native trees available for anyone who would like them!

Available species include:
American elm
Red maple
Sugar maple
Tulip tree
Red Oak

We have a mix of sizes, including plenty of smaller trees and a handful of larger ones.

If you’re interested, send us a message and we’ll be happy to arrange a pickup time. We’d love to help these trees find new homes!
